Firm Focus and History

Barron & Associates is a highly regarded law firm serving the Greater Bay Area. Our emphasis of practice focuses on construction law, serving property owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, and insurers. Our attorneys have more than 25 years providing legal representation to property pwners and the construction industry. We also have extensive litigation experience handling a variety of cases from collection matters to complex construction defect litigation.

Previous Employment Summary

For the last ten years, I have been practicing construction law and business law related to real property matters. Prior to that, I practiced education law with a small Walnut Creek law firm that counseled various local school districts.

The attorneys associated with our firm have varied professional experiences, all of which adds to the firm's ability to provide quality legal representation and counseling to our clients.

Activities and Awards

I provide pro bono work for the Contra Costa County Bar, wherein I provide free legal advice to county residents.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Consistent with Nolo's philosophy of self-help, I regularly explain the legal process to my clients without complicated legalese, but rather in easy-to-understand terms. I provide my clients with the choice of representing themselves or hiring me to represent them when appropriate.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Always.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

For some clients, representing themselves is an interesting and self-gratifying process. However, the legal formalities and process can be overwhelming. So, I am willing to assist clients who want to represent themselves to the extent of explaining the overview of the process and/or coaching.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

If I weren't an attorney I would have been a teacher, as I have a unique ability to explain complicated issues and ideas in easy-to-understand language. This, combined with my desire to help people with their problems, led me to practice law.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

With construction law, I have had the unique experience of handling complex construction defect litigation for developers. As a developer's counsel, the cases dealt with hundreds of different parties, insurance carriers, and experts. These experiences have allowed me to develop strong problem solving and organizational skills that apply to all types of work for my clients.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have always been interested in construction and building. As a real property lawyer, I have the opportunity to apply my legal knowledge to construction matters and real property issues.

What do you like best about your career?

Helping owners and contractors with their legal issues.

Tell us about your law firm:

Our lawyers are very knowledgeable about all areas of California Construction Law and Real Property Issues. We are highly regarded transaction and litigation lawyers. Our experience allows us to provide our clients with honest answers and assessments at an affordable rate.

What are your strengths and style?

Effective problem solving. Although every case and matter is different, I always assess the issues being presented by the client whether it is a revision of their home improvement contract, to a collection matter on a fee dispute, to a multi-million dollar litigation, and then provide the client with a cost-benefit analysis and options to succeed.

Personal Interests:

Hanging out with my family, Oakland A's baseball, San Francisco 49ers football, tennis, guitar, photography, grilling, biking.
