What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Knowledge is power, and it is often helpful when a client researches their legal issues ahead of time. Research on legal issues should be used as a guide to assist the client, however, the client should consult with an attorney prior to making final decisions.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to do it, but under most circumstances, I would recommend that legal documents be prepared by an attorney.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am reluctant to do so. The estate planning documents that I deal with are usually complex enough that I wouldn't recommend clients prepare them by themselves.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I became an attorney because of my desire to help people. I feel that this is an area of law where you can really help clients and provide options that they may not be aware of but are necessary to implement their plans and carry out their wishes.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been practicing in this area of law for over 12 years. I believe that my experience dealing with a wide variety of clients and circumstances gives me a good perspective for evaluating different clients' needs.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Estate Planning encompasses a variety of concerns that most people will deal with in their life. They know that it needs to get done, but many people will put it off. When we complete signing the Estate Planning documents, clients are relieved and happy. I enjoy getting clients to this place.

What do you like best about your career?

I enjoy the process of helping people plan the details of their future and seeing the personal satisfaction they get when they reach their goals.

Tell us about your law firm:

I deal with all of my clients individually. This helps a long-term relationship grow. This personal interaction is very important to my clients as well as to me, and I have been recommended to many of my clients' family members and friends.

What are your strengths and style?

I am honest, straightforward, and caring when dealing with my clients. I believe in making subjects that may be difficult for some people to deal with as easy and as pleasant as possible.

Personal Interests:

Most of my spare time is spent with my wife and two daughters (ages 3 and 6).
