Example Cases

Multiple securities fraud cases, such as Dozier, et al v Prudential Securities and Dade County School Board, recovering losses from sale of unsuitable securities sold through adult education in public school, as reported in New York Times, May 26, 1991, "When the Teacher is a Broker", page 1 and on NBC News.

Other example cases include rights and duties of shareholders in a close corporation; breach of fiduciary duties; duties of trustee to beneficiaries, see e.g. First Union v Whitener, 715 So.2d 979 (Fla. 5th DCA 1998), 901 So.2d 366 (Fla. 5th DCA 2005); right of property owner to operate Adult Living Facility despite homeowner association restrictions, see Boyce v Simpson, 746 So.2d 507 (Fla. 4th DCA 1999). Also real estate litigation, municipal code violations, zoning variances. I handle cases in both trial and appellate levels.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think self education enables the client to better understand their legal rights, and when to seek the aid of a professional.

I am willing to, for a modest fee.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Only with regard to small claims in order to help the client not incur legal fees that exceed the amount of the claim. Frequently, such clients return for my representation when they encounter an attorney representing the other side.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have a natural talent as a lawyer. I have always been a competitive fighter, and I get satisfaction from helping others.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My experience from practicing law for more than 34 years, together with my life experiences, give me a real understanding of life and the legal system.

I have always understood the need for a talented fighter to protect and preserve the rights of the individual and small corporation in commercial matters and real estate transactions.
