Firm Focus and History

After a number of years practicing civil litigation and estate planning and probate law in various sized firms, I decided to become a solo practitioner so that I could make all decisions about what cases and which clients I represented. This means that I personally interact with my clients and give them the benefit of communicating directly with their lawyer at all times. I also strive to accurately determine what the client really needs and meet that need promptly and efficiently.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to educate themselves about the process, and I am always available for questions.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will always review any documents prepared by a client, and I always read correspondence from clients.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I don't usually do this but in selected cases I have done so. An example would be to advise a client on a holographic (hand written) will and the appropriate use of such a document.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I was intrigued by the plight of people who are not educated about legal matters and recognized that a caring and conscientious lawyer could be a major service to people in need.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I served as a Navy SEAL in Vietnam and after that not much threatens me.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I began working in the field of civil litigation in the '70s and tried many cases. I have always included estate administration as my practice because it goes along with will contests and other probate/trust disputes.

What do you like best about your career?

I enjoy helping people through difficult circumstances.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner so I work directly with my clients.

What are your strengths and style?

I am a good judge of people and usually perceive their needs quickly.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy motorcycle riding, community service work, church/religious activities.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
