Example Cases

A couple came to me seeking a divorce; one party drank and could not hold onto a job; their house was about to be sold in foreclosure; and they were in credit card debt. I convinced the party who drank excessively to join AA; convinced the bank to hold off on foreclosure; worked out a deal with the credit card companies while both parties got new jobs and were able to get their debts paid off. Then they were able to sell their home for a profit, got back together, and bought a new home which was cheaper and got job transfers so they could be closer to their residences.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I prefer clients to be as informed as possible on the unique facts of their case, as well as their legal rights and obligations.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes. This can be an effective way of gaining insight into a client's case and can provide helpful information to the court.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Self-help is always a mistake. Because of the emotional involvement of the individuals concerned, they usually loose sight of the most important issues of the case.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

To assist people in resolving their problems.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have been married for 45 years, have four children and three grandchildren. My children have not only finished college but have gone on to get advanced degrees. We are a very close knit family and help each other out when needed. I am involved in community service. As an attorney, I have become involved with many people's problems and understand human nature.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have always had the facility for understanding people and assisting them in resolving their problems.

What do you like best about your career?

I take great personal satisfaction in my ability to make a positive difference in the lives of my clients and their children.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a wonderful paralegal who has been with me since 1978 and is very attentive to all of my clients' immediate needs.

What are your strengths and style?

I listen to my clients, advise them as to their legal rights and obligations, and devote my efforts to achieving their needs.
