Business Law
Start-ups and small businesses.
NY, Jan 2002
New York State
New York City Bar Association
I attend continuing legal education seminars covering small business law topics or other topics of law that I find interesting.
A client with no prior business experience approached me with 3 interesting spaces in Brooklyn and a concept of developing a coffee bar, restaurant and lounge. I negotiated the leases, assisted with raising the start-up capital, and consulted on all aspects of the coffee bar. I used my vendor connections to help procure the equipment and used my 10 years of coffee experience to help design the café and hire and train the staff. The venture is a huge success and recently won the award for best new bar in New York City.

I am the principal of the firm, which was established in 2005. The firm is dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs fulfill their dream of starting and running their own business. We deal exclusively with small business owners who are both starting out with a new venture or are currently running their own small business.
Prior to practicing law, I owned and operated a small, successful chain of coffee bar/cafes in Manhattan.
I work pro-bono for the Jazz Foundation of America, an organization that assists jazz musicians who find themselves in a sudden crisis. I also often take pro-bono cases for persons of limited means.
An entrepreneur needs to know as much as possible about all aspects of his or her business. Understanding the legal issues that affect your business is essential to success.
I'm cool with it. I had a client draw up a complicated subscription agreement to raise capital and he did a great job. I made some modifications and he raised the money.
Perfectly willing.
Practicing small business law allows me to use my entrepreneurial experience and legal training to make a living by sharing my knowledge with cool people.
A lifetime of entrepreneurial activities has taught me the ins and out of starting and running a business. I share my client's perspective and relate to them not merely as an attorney, but rather as one who has experienced similar struggles and challenges.
Because small business owners are my kind of people.
I earn a decent living by doing something I am passionate about. What more could you ask for?
I am a solo practitioner but have built a hearty network of attorneys in other practice areas to help my clients.
I'm an empathic listener and always try to get at the heart of the matter with my clients. I work tirelessly to help my client's succeed. I am always accessible and believe strongly in communicating frequently with my clients.
I am obsessed with playing the drums and am into all kinds of music, especially jazz. I am also a rabid Mets fan. I'm also not too shabby in the kitchen and love to cook.
