The more the client understands about the law applicable to his/her case, the better.
I always review them. They are important if they commit a party to something; or they may be a workable foundation for a final document; or they may tell you what the client wants, and what factors the client thinks is important, or they may provide an accurate chronology of relevant events, or other important information.
I will do this in a limited way under certain circumstances where my responsibilities and limited scope of representation are clearly understood and agreed. It is risky to play a partial role while having no control of the case or what the client actually does, especially if the client is going to court as a pro per.
To protect people's rights, to assist the underdog.
38 years experience; continuing legal education. In addition, my own marital dissolution made me realize how it feels to sit on the other side of the desk, how much pain, anxiety, sense of loss, uncertainty, and chaos a dissolution client may be experiencing. It made me a more empathetic lawyer.
I like working with individuals on a one-to-one basis.
I have ongoing opportunities to make a significant difference in people's lives.
I am a solo practitioner and a one man band but thanks to computers and excellent legal software, my clients deal directly with me.
Persistence and preparation; documents I file with the court on a motion or other disputed issue are concise, well researched and well-reasoned. I'm comfortable in court, and treat my client and opposing counsel and parties with respect. I always seek a good negotiated solution before presenting an issue to the Court for decision. My charges are
fair; it is rare for a client to question an item on any of my bills.
