Firm Focus and History

My firm handles all criminal matters in the state and federal courts to include felonies, misdemeanors, appeals and expungements. I always act on my client's behalf aggressively, competently, and ethically to resolve his or her matter as quickly and effectively as possible while defending his or her constitutional rights. The firm's ultimate goal is to obtain the liberty of each client while maintaining his or her professional and personal life. My firm was established in 2005, although I have been an attorney since 2000.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to becoming an attorney, I had an extensive career with the State of California. My work at the Attorney General's Office included profiling sex offenders, tracking organized crime suspects and drug traffickers, training law enforcement personnel in Uniform Crime Reporting, and analyzing legislation pertaining to criminal matters. My work at the Department of Corrections included counseling High-Risk Serious Habitual Sex Offenders upon their release from state prison. While at the Board of Control, I proposed recommendations for resolution of appeals filed by crime victims.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients should absolutely educate themselves regarding legal issues. However, I strongly feel that it is my responsibility as an attorney to ensure that my clients are fully informed as to all legal issues and choices made available to them.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I would be happy to review any and all documents that may be relevant to the client's case.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to educate clients about small claims court, restraining orders and minor traffic offenses.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to be a lawyer to protect those that have been unjustly accused and mistreated by the government.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have an extensive education in the field of psychology. I have counseled many individuals while working at the Children's Receiving Home in Sacramento, and while volunteering at Suicide Prevention Services of Sacramento. I have also counseled newly released high risk sex offenders from the California state prison system. I have always had a desire to help individuals through very difficult times in their lives. Also, my eleven-year career in law enforcement has enabled me to provide my clients with substantial insight into possible defenses which may lead to the dismissal or mitigation of criminal charges.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I feel much more passionate about fighting for a person's liberty than fighting for monetary gain.

What do you like best about your career?

I have often found my clients to be genuinely good people who have found themselves in very difficult situations. This truly inspires me to strive to obtain the best result possible in each and every case.

Tell us about your law firm:

My firm works with an extensive network of professionals, to include other experienced attorneys and investigators. Our investigators utilize state of the art equipment and techniques to provide critical evidence necessary to present the best case possible for our clients. These techniques include public records searches, photographs, video surveillance, witness interviews, and forensic evidence testing. I also have an extremely competent part-time office assistant to help with matters while I am in court.

What are your strengths and style?

I have an excellent working relationship with the prosecutors in this area, which leads to very successful negotiations. If I am unable to achieve dismissal of a matter, I continue to vigorously prepare each case to the fullest extent possible with great attention to detail. This allows me to prepare the best defense possible for my clients and to enable them to make intelligent decisions as to whether to enter a plea or proceed to trial.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy traveling, sports, and spending quality time with family and friends.
