What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Given the time and resources, most estate planning clients could draft their own estate documents; however, I am a trained professional with the resources and the experience to use the resources. The price of professional estate planning is much less than the cost of probate. An improperly drafted trust can result in tremendous costs for the client and the client's heirs. Estate planning is life planning. Mistakes made in an estate plan can cause great financial and emotional strain at a later stage in the client's life. Home brewed estate plans are not a wise decision. Self representation is dangerous.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Client prepared documents are very helpful and important in that the client's wishes are readily apparent. The next step is to draft documents that will withstand hostile scrutiny. The most common client error is setting up ambiguous conflicts within the document. Ambiguities are the foundation for challenges, and may have very costly tax consequences. Estate planning is a process; client prepared documents can be a very good start, but client documents are a very bad finish.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

If a matter is simple enough, then coaching is a good thing. If a matter requires more than a few hours of coaching, then the matter should be handled by a professional.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I enjoy research. I like to work on a variety of projects and I like meeting people.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have many years of work and life experience before I became an attorney. See website: http://attorneylarrywebb.com

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

The estate practice is interesting and it works well for small law offices. Estate planning is one-on-one. If a client goes to a large firm, the greeting attorney will not likely be the drafting attorney. In my office, I am solely responsible for the client's file.

What do you like best about your career?

I like the opportunity to meet and help a variety of interesting people.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner; all of my clients deal directly with me. I am readily available to clients whenever they have a question.

What are your strengths and style?

I like people and I understand that individuals have individual ideas. I a simply make each individual's idea work for them.

Personal Interests:
