I have successfully litigated construction defect cases, non-disclosure cases in the context of a sale of both single family homes and commercial property, mechanic's lien cases, landlord-tenant disputes in both a residential and commercial context, boundary and easement disputes, real estate partnership and joint venture disputes, eminent domain issues, partition cases and a variety of other real estate matters. I have also assisted in a wide variety of real estate transactions, including 1031 exchanges.

The Scharff Law Group was established in 1991. The Firm represents individuals and small businesses in a wide variety of real estate litigation and transactions including purchase and sale disputes, disclosure issues, boundary and easement disputes, construction defects, broker disputes, contractor disputes, subcontractor disputes and drafting real estate transaction documents, including leases, purchase and sale agreements and loan and financing documents as well as forming Corporations and Limited Liability Companies (LLCs).

I have practiced law since 1986. I previously worked with a large real estate developer, and then founded The Scharff Law Group in 1991.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I wanted to use my passion, analytical abilities, and public speaking skills to help people reach effective solutions to their legal problems.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have a real estate broker's license, so I have the knowledge and experience of having done a number of real estate transactions. In addition, I worked in-house for a large real estate firm and have significant trial and arbitration experience, which gives me a wealth of knowledge to draw upon.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I own and manage a number of large commercial and residential projects, and I always had a strong interest in real estate.

What do you like best about your career?

I like the satisfaction of winning.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have a number of attorneys that I associate with and work closely with. I also have some part-time paralegals.

What are your strengths and style?

My strength is that I am friendly, persuasive, and enjoyable to work with. I keep the focus on winning, or in a business transaction, getting the deal done.
