Bankruptcy
I represent clients in individual or joint personal Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. Many of my clients are also sole proprietors/small businesses seeking a personal bankruptcy. I can accept cases in the Eastern District and Northern District of California.

I attend Bankruptcy related conferences to stay informed on recent developments in my field of practice.
Most recently, I represented landlords who had suffered the effect of the real estate melt-down, and small businesses who want to continue operations or cease operations. The most typical case will involve people who have foreclosure hardships, repossessions, or wage garnishments.

My firm was established in 2007, after having served as a Managing Attorney for a nationwide law firm's bankruptcy practice for several years. My firm focuses on providing personable representation for clients who are in need of assistance in resolving their financial hardships.
Formerly Managing Attorney of the Sacramento office of Legal Helpers, P.C. aka Macey & Aleman.
I believe a client should be as informed as possible so they are prepared to make an educated choice after their legal consultation with my office. I find that most clients say they understand once I am done explaining the process and complexities in their case.
I find that clients who are seeking the guidance are typically not prepared to represent themselves. Therefore, I will only do full-service representation, which involves case conceptualization allowing the attorney to best protect the client's best interests.
I will only agree to perhaps take over the representation if the case has not been compromised by the client's actions up to the point in time when they are seeking help. Most things are salvageable, but in bankruptcy there are some uncorrectable items that would require close attorney review and consideration.
I enjoy the privilege of being able to help those who are not informed enough to proceed on their own comfortably. It is an honor to share my knowledge with those who are seeking a way to see through this difficult part of their lives. It is very satisfying to hear a client state that they now know what they need to do, and are able to make an informed decision that is in their best interest.
I have worked as a bankruptcy lawyer for five years in very high volume practices, which has allowed me to be more experienced than even an attorney in my field who has not been in private practice for twice the amount of years. Having practiced bankruptcy exclusively in a high volume office has given me the exposure and experience, allowing for more effective representation of all seeking assistance.
Bankruptcy chose me. I was hired on as a bankruptcy attorney for my first professional position as an attorney, and decided I enjoyed the dynamics of bankruptcy that I decided to remain in the practice of bankruptcy.
I enjoy the client satisfaction and the referrals of their friends, family members, and co-workers. It is nice to be appreciated and to know that another client has developed the confidence in me to refer those they care about to me to provide assistance.
I am a sole practitioner, handling most of the work myself.
My strength is my ability to relate to others and listen carefully to their concerns. My style is personable, friendly, and approachable.
I enjoy spending time with my family, bicycling, running, and water sports in the summer.

I have flat fees for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. The fees are established on a case-by-case basis, and I offer fee scaling for low-income clients on a fixed income. Fees are established at the first appointment in most cases.
$225 for hourly work based on attorney's experience in the field.
Free half-hour consultation, and for more difficult cases I will extend it to one full hour. Most cases can be evaluated in a half-hour.
$100 retainer, and the balance in monthly installments to be determined. Case goals are considered in determining the length of the installments.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
