3. Oregon (Washington & Idaho in spring of 2009).
I opened the firm in October of 2007. Before I started my own firm, I was a managing attorney for Legal Helpers, PC from April 2006 to October 2008. Prior to working with Legal Helpers PC, I worked as a contract attorney for Daniel C. Lorenz and with the local public defender's office.
Consumer law & advocacy: enforcing consumer rights, particularly the rights of debtors, prosecute violations of FDCPA, FCRA, & other consumer protection laws. I also advise small businesses in reorganization/restructuring of debts in Chapters 7, 13, and 11, and assist consumers in Chapters 7, 13, and 11. I also prepare wills, probate estates, and taxes.
• 2008-present: President & Managing Partner - Debt Advisors PC
• 4/2006-10/2008: Managing Attorney, Legal Helpers PC
• 8/2005-4/2006: Contract attorney/law clerk, Daniel C. Lorenz, Attorney at Law
• 9/2004-4/2005: Law clerk/ Multnomah Defenders Inc.
• 9/2003-4/2004: Legal Intern- Oregon Department of Insurance
• Pro-Bono attorney for Debtor Creditor/ State bar Section/ Bankruptcy Clinic.
• Consumer advocate, wrote a chapter for "Inside the Minds - Consumer guide to filing Chapter 13."
• Clerked for Multnomah Defenders Inc., 2004-2005.
A key focus of my firm is empowering clients through education. I have created a non-profit entity, NW Consumer Advocate.org, that will have the goal of providing resources and education to consumers.
I will review documents such as contracts & leases prepared by clients but I do not advise pro-se clients in court.
I am unwilling to do so for liability reasons. I think that for the same fees, clients will receive a better outcome working directly with an attorney.
I decided to practice law because I want to help others through difficult times in their lives. I have a gift of advocacy and argument, and I wanted to use the gift in a positive manner.
I worked in sales prior to going to law school and that experience has helped me relate to all kinds of people. I also have worked with non-profits serving low income clients, which has helped me to understand the challenges people in poverty face every day.
Again, to help consumers. Their rights are violated each day and creditors depend on people not doing anything about it.
I enjoy helping the "little guy" get ahead.
I have a small firm and all my clients work with me and my assistant. My assistant is very helpful and attentive to my client's needs.
I am aggressive. I cut to the chase and directly address people's issues. I am hard-working and diligent and I work very well with people that understand that they need to fulfill their responsibilities.
I enjoy cooking, traveling, exercising, skiing, biking, hiking, yoga, and spending quality time with my lovely partner and daughter. I am an avid reader and am interested in history, the international political economy, the environment, living sustainably, personal development, and spiritual growth.
