Family Law
My preference is to work with divorcing couples who recognize the need for some facilitation. They may have been married a long time and have grown children or had a shorter marriage with younger children. What the couples have in common is that they "get it" that they will preserve their assets by choosing NOT to litigate in their divorce process---and, if they have children, by working together instead of against each other, they can shield the children from additional stress.
In addition, my preference is to work with an individual representing himself or herself ("in pro per") in an uncontested dissolution process. I also provide legal "consulting" services on an hourly basis for an individual who is working with another mediator.

I complete the continuing education as required by the State Bar.
Example Mediation Case: In a few sessions, the couple developed an agreement allowing Wife to move out of state with their children and Husband to move closer to their locale and have regular and more frequent contact with the children again after he leaves the military.
Example Collaborative Law Case: Husband and Wife were able to negotiate freely with their attorneys in the room; the matter settled all property aspects of a long term marriage.

After many years of representing clients in a court process, I have limited my practice to "divorce without court."
I have been mediating divorce cases since 1999, and providing Collaborative Law services since 2002. I also provide consulting services for parties representing themselves in uncontested proceedings. I also draft prenuptial agreements.
I offer reasonably priced, quality services.
Before becoming a lawyer and during the time I attended law school, I was a Family Support Officer for the District Attorney's Office in Ventura County, a total of 12 1/2 years. I have worked on my own and also with the following local firms, Cunningham & Lansden, Richard Ross Associates, and Ross and Parvex, L.L.P.
Knowledge is a good thing. It is essential that parties understand how their decisions could impact them in the future. Clients should remain "open" to legal input and direction.
As a consulting lawyer, I routinely review documents prepared by clients as well as mediators and lawyers.
I provide affordable consulting services (on an hourly basis) for clients who represent themselves in uncontested matters.
I entered law school at 39 years of age. My family was raised and I wanted a new career that would make a "difference." Practicing collaborative law and mediation is very rewarding.

I have a background in working with people, first in social services, and then in the D.A.'s office. I completed 144 hours of Mediation training at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have completed the "International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, IACP", Collaborative Law Training. with Pauline Tesler and Stu Webb
When I work with families helping them with options for solutions, it is vey rewarding.
What I like best about my career is the opportunity to inspire people who think divorce is the end when it can actually be the beginning of a new life.
I am a sole practitioner. I am committed to serving clients in a professional, fair and reasonably-priced manner. My clients comment that the environment is comfortable and they are able to work together with their spouse on the things that are most important for them in this transition.
I am able to guide couples in this legal process, and at the same time, help move through some "highly charged" moments that may arise on the way to settlement.
My personal interests include dancing, hiking, reading, and spending time with my family.
