I always go above and beyond the State Bar requirements for continuing legal education. For example, in 2006 I attended 4 criminal law seminars.
In 2006, I successfully argued a motion to suppress evidence, which resulted in the dismissal of all charges in a felony drug possession case.

The Law Offices of Barry A. Zimmerman was started in 1994, in Placer County, California. Over the last 13 years, we have focused on representing individuals charged with crimes and individuals who are hurt and injured in Placer, Sacramento, and Nevada County.
During law school, I worked as a Certified Law Student for the Sacramento District Attorney's Office for 2 years. I was also a member of the Army National Guard for 6 years. Before that, I worked several part-time jobs to help pay for my education.

I think an educated client is better prepared to take an active role in defending themselves and assisting their attorney.
I am always willing to review documents prepared by a client.
I do not coach clients who want to represent themselves. On the other hand, I routinely advise people dealing with minor traffic or DMV issues that it may be more cost effective to represent themselves.
I decided to become a lawyer because I am extremely competitive, and my wife says I love to argue. I disagree. More importantly, I enjoy helping people find solutions to their problems.
My experience in handling all types of criminal cases provides me with a better understanding of complex legal issues compared to attorneys who only practice in one particular area, such as DUI.
I think criminal law is the most dynamic and interesting area of practice. I like being in court, and enjoy being a litigator. As a criminal defense attorney, I take pride in representing the underdog.
The thing I like best about my career is achieving the best possible result for every one of my clients.
Barry A. Zimmerman is a State Bar Certified Criminal Law Specialist and has been practicing in Placer County for over 15 years. Lori Burgess, our legal assistant, has been with the office for the last 7 years.
Patience and attention to detail.
I am generally an easy going person, and I believe in giving everyone the benefit of a doubt.
My personal interests include playing competitive league basketball, music, and camping.

I offer flat rates (fixed price) on most misdemeanor and some lower level felony cases. These rates, however, vary from case to case depending on the facts, circumstances, and exposure.
My fees are always negotiable. I also accept credit cards.
I offer free initial consultations (typically 1/2 hour).
All fees are negotiable. Generally, misdemeanors start at $2,000 and felonies at $3,500.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
