I attend annual legal education (over 200 hours)in most areas of employment law and in some areas of intellectual property law.
"Causation in the Employment Discrimination Case," California Labor and Employment Law Quarterly, Spring/Summer 1996.
I successfully litigated a multi-million dollar trade secrets case involving use and ownership of a software product (resulting in dismissal of case against my clients).
I successfully resolved many cases involving complaints of workplace discrimination on the basis of race, religion, disability and gender. I've also handled cases involving retaliation, sexual harassment and failure to pay proper wages on severance package under ERISA for laid-off employee of large pharmaceutical company despite obstacles presented by federal law.
I negotiated favorable severance packages for many employees facing termination in breach of contract.
I obtained a favorable settlement for insured employee who was denied insurance benefits under ERISA, despite legal requirement that the insurance company's denial received deference.
I also won an unprecedented multi-million dollar jury award for emotional distress on behalf of African-American plaintiff who had suffered racial harassment in the workplace.
I won a 9th Circuit Appeal in an ERISA case on a significant issue involving the level of deference courts must accord legal opinions by government agencies.

I have been practicing exclusively in the area of employment law for more than thirteen years. I have litigated cases involving nearly every aspect of employment law, including: race, religious, gender and disability discrimination; breach of contract; ERISA benefits; wage and hour law; retaliation; harassment; and trade secret misappropriation. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University in New York City (1985). At Pepperdine University School of Law she enjoyed a full dean's merit scholarship and academic honors, graduating in the top ten percent of her class (1991). I have been a member of the State Bar of California since 1991, and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California State Bar. I am licensed to practice law in the State of California and is admitted to practice before the California State Courts, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
I was an associate attorney with the employment law firm of Rehwald Rameson Lewis & Glasner in Woodland Hills, California from 1993-1995.
I have experience in litigation practice representing employees on numerous issues. This includes all aspects of litigation, from filing the complaint to arguing the appeal. I am an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and various local Chambers of Commerce.
I believe that clients should be very well-informed about legal matters affecting them. However, in my experience, clients who attempt to educate themselves acquire a confused, flawed knowledge of the law and the issues. I prefer to thoroughly educate my clients myself. I spend a lot of time getting to know clients, their businesses, their industries, and their personal philosophies. I also make sure that clients fully understand all legal issues relevant to their circumstances so that every decision they make is well-founded, incisive, legally sound and strategically prudent.
At times, bringing an attorney to the forefront of a situation is not in a client's best interest. In such circumstances, I am willing to review/modify client-drafted documents.
I will not assist a client who wishes to represent himself or herself in pro per in any adversarial proceeding. Very few people can succeed in our judicial system without effective advocacy.
Initially, I was drawn to the study, rather than the practice, of law.
My writing background is helpful. Also, various church-related activities have helped me develop compassion and empathy for the difficulties clients face.
Employment discrimination is a sub-category of civil rights law. I consider it an area of practice worthy of my efforts and vital to societal interests. Whether representing employees or employers, I am committed to ensuring that workers in California are able to do their jobs in work environments characterized by justice, fairness and the absence of unlawful discrimination. I am equally committed to preserving the integrity of our civil rights laws by combating unwarranted lawsuits.
I like assisting individuals who have been harmed by the abuse of power. I also enjoy helping companies to comply with the law, address complaints, avoid lawsuits and facilitating dispute resolution.
This is a single-attorney office that offers extremely personalized, high-quality service. All matters affecting my clients' interests during litigation are acutely important. Therefore, I handle all details of the litigation myself and do not hand work off to associates or contract lawyers.
I am strong in the areas of legal writing and litigation strategies.
I am principled, ethical, and understated.
Because my husband and I have four sons, my personal interests tend to involve kid-friendly activities (children's sports, educational and church-related activities, family-style recreation).
