Our firm practices only family law, including mediation and collaborative law. Although I have been practicing law since 1980, I started my own firm in 1991. Initially I had one associate attorney and a paralegal. Our firm has grown over the last 16 years to three attorneys, three paralegals and two administrative staff members. In working for our clients, we all operate as a team dedicated to being accessible and responsive to our clients' needs in a cost effective way.
I first practiced law as an associate in 1980 in business litigation. I gained extensive trial, business and family law experience. Until approximately 1995, my practice emphasized drafting and negotiating sales of dental and medical practices as well as family law. I have a broad background in litigation, business valuation, and negotiation -- all essential components for representing clients in a dissolution of marriage case.
I have lectured extensively to dental societies and associations at various dental conferences regarding valuation of businesses and contracts to purchase businesses. Additionally, I have participated in numerous community activities primarily involving my children and their educational progress.
In many cases, self education by a client can be very helpful.
I am willing to review documents prepared by clients and accept these clients on a case by case basis.
I am willing to do so.
I wanted a career that was intellectually challenging that utilized my talents and skills.
My broad background in business, contract drafting and negotiation and litigation are all skills vital to successful representation of clients through dissolution of marriage, draft marital settlement agreements, and prenuptial agreements. Further, because my practice is not limited to one county but to counties in the Bay Area including San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, San Francisco and Alameda, I experience different court procedures and judges allowing me to constantly hone my skills.
I chose family law because I want to help clients through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives. I decided to specialize in family law because it combines all areas in which I am most interested including families, contracts, litigation, tax, real estate, negotiation and business.
Helping clients through one of the most difficult events of their lives is very rewarding. It allows me to learn something new with every new client and yet I am constantly reminded of how we all have many common emotions and reactions.
The attorneys, paralegals and support staff are intelligent, well-educated and caring individuals who maintain the ultimate goal of effectively guiding our clients through the dissolution proceeding while maintaining respect and compassion for them and their families.
I consider myself pragmatic, tenacious, empathetic, creative and candid.
