As Co-Chair of the Marin Bar Association Probate and Estate Planning Section, I oversee meetings geared to assisting attorneys gain proficiency in estate matters. This helps me assist clients make informed decisions regarding wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney, and tax issues. I also attend trainings regarding real estate and family law matters, thereby allowing me to help families make intelligent decisions concerning critical real estate and family law issues that have important long term consequences.
We recently helped a family who needed to protect assets for their children upon their death. Without our help, a large portion of their estate would have been subject to estate taxes, leaving the children with a much smaller inheritance.
We also aided a client who was accused of non-disclosure (real estate sale) and another who could not close on a home that she contracted to buy. In both cases we were able to limit damages and reach successful outcomes for our clients.
Another client had difficult issues facing him regarding child custody and visitation. He faced the possibility of either not being able to see his children, or of seeing his children under very limited and difficult conditions. We were able to negotiate a solution (with the Court's approval) which allowed him to dramatically increase his custody and visitation rights.
