Walnut Creek Lawyer
My divorce practice at the Law Office of Robert K. Famulener, has this philosophy: "I hope you never have to contact me; but if you do, I will use all of the knowledge and skills I have gained through my years of education and experience to represent you and get a good result." During my twenty years of serving California divorce clients, I have seen nearly every situation and set of circumstances that can arise in a family law case.
Child Custody and Support Attorney
Being a divorced father myself, I personally know that California divorce and child custody proceedings can be very challenging. I am committed to helping my clients go through the process, understanding all the steps and associated options. I try to take the mystery out of court proceedings including hearings involving temporary custody and support orders. I make sure my clients know what all the court documents and family law forms pertaining to their case mean and what effect they may have on all the issues in their family law matter.
California Property Division and Spousal Support
Financial issues in a divorce can often be very contentious and lead to expensive litigation. I am committed to assisting my clients in understanding that today's decisions will affect tomorrow's income, assets, debts and overall quality of life.
I think it's important for me to provide guidance in helping clients see how the consequences of one course of action can compare to another course of action. I know this helps my clients make better, wiser and longer-lasting divorce settlement decisions during what is often an emotional and stressful life transition. Whether you are thinking of filing for a divorce yourself, or your spouse has already notified you of an intent to file divorce papers, contact me by clicking on the "Contact Information" bar above or go directly to my website at http://www.walnutcreekdivorcelawyer.com.

I generally want my clients to be informed, so I provide them with information to read and places to go as well as explaining the court procedures most likely to apply to their cases. I do like to go over the Family Court Services questionnaire with them should they have a custody mediation to attend, and expand upon the general ideas regarding a workable custody schedule that they received in the court sponsored "Orientation" prior to Mediation. I want clients to understand the law and the process and generally provide them with information on my website at http://www.walnutcreekdivorcelawyer.com. I have referred those who contact my office but can not personally help directly to the pro per information desk in the Contra Costa County Courthouse as well as occasionally teaching the "Pro Per Self-Help Clinic" there. I also refer people to the self-help section of the Contra Costa Bar Association website and to Nolo Press.
I am willing to review the documents that clients prepare as long as I am confident that we can work together after speaking with them about the facts in their case.
I am willing to coach (consult with) clients if, after speaking with them, I am confident that we can work together and that the issues are not too complex for the particular client. I am also willing to both consult and where necessary appear in a "limited representation" capacity (sometimes called "bundling") if the client prefers.
I decided to become a lawyer to help people navigate the procedures and issues they may confront in the legal system.
I have been a truck driver (teamster), a real estate agent, an active parent, a friend to other parents and once upon a time was a kid myself.
Family Law requires that a lawyer be an expert at dividing property and understanding the complexities of many businesses, assets and debts, from pensions to stock options to the treatment of separate property and community property. It requires a knowledge of many other areas of law. Each case and situation has its unique characteristics and I enjoy each new challenge. I also like kids.
I enjoy coming up with creative solutions that allow each party to go through this difficult change in their lives and be as economically healthy as possible, and whenever possible, assisting parents in creating a caring, safe and vibrant life for their children.
I have a small firm which gives individual attention to each client's concerns and case.
I understand people well and am able to help them understand this complicated and emotional path they are on so that they can maximize their possibilities and opportunities for themselves and their children.
I like to listen and then act. I prefer to work with other attorneys rather than engage in unnecessary, aggressive and abrasive behavior. I am also competitive and like to win.
I enjoy my children and family, doing things with friends, sports, theater, games, hiking, reading and finding time to do some of it.
