Employment & Labor Relations
My preference is to work with employees who have had their rights violated by their employers. I take most cases on contingency. If there is no recovery, there is no attorney fee to be paid by the client.

Over the past four years I have attended numerous courses and seminars on litigating class action wage and hour cases, comparing the FLSA and California Wage Orders, wage and hour essentials, employment related class actions, and the shifting political winds and interpretations of rest and meal period liability under the Labor Code.
(1) Engelsen v. Keebler was a class action involving over 300 similarly situated sales associates who had not been paid overtime. The $6.2 million settlement provided a large payout to each claiming employee.
(2) Maddox vs. Bath and Body Works and employees who were denied meal and rest periods. The settlements in these cases resulted in a payout to each of several thousand claiming employees.

Our focus is on employment law. More specifically, Federal and State wage and hour cases, jury and bench trials, wrongful termination litigation, discrimination cases, arbitrations, mediations, traditional non-union labor law, and class actions.
I have owned and operated Gould & Associates since 1997 (previously Madoni & Gould from 1997 to 2001). I worked as an attorney at Parker Stanbury fromn 1991 to 1997 and at Hagenbaugh Murphy from 1990 to 1991.
I attend lectures and courses to keep up with new laws and trends in the law. In addition, I teach extension courses at University of California at Irvine for paralegals.
I appreciate a well-informed client; this allows the client to understand all the legal options.
I gladly review documents prepared by clients on an hourly rate basis.
I would encourage a client to represent themselves in small claims court for small dollar matters or to go to the Labor Board for wage cases.
I decided to be a lawyer because it sounded like a cool job and I enjoy it.
All of my education and work experience have contributed to my skills. Ongoing education keeps my skills sharp.
I enjoy the problem solving and intellectual challenges of employment law and litigation.
The intellectual challenges are the best part of being an attorney.
The people working with me are the best of the best.
I have knowledge and experience in all aspects of employment law.
My style is casual and relaxed but very straightforward.
My personal interests are focused on youth sports with my four children.
