In several cases, I have obtained $100,000.00 or more for my clients in exchange for them moving out of their apartments. While these results are not typical, my clients are likely to receive far more than they would if they did not hire me.

I think that an informed client makes a better client. An informed client is better able to understand the legal concepts I discuss with them and better able to make informed decisions.
Generally, I do not review documents prepared by clients.
Other than in small claims court, a person who attempts to represent himself or herself against an experienced lawyer is asking for trouble. Just as in medicine, accounting, or engineering, where the skills of a professional make a difference, a non-lawyer is going to be at a distinct disadvantage litigating against a lawyer.
I have been fascinated with the rule of law since childhood. The idea that a person cannot be arbitrarily deprived of his/her home or his/her freedom is essential to the rule of law.
I have sold pretzels on the street, I have worked as a law firm messenger, and I was a paralegal before going to law school. These experiences have given me a sense of what it is like for the average person to deal with buying groceries, paying the rent, and trying to have a decent life.
I did a case through the Volunteer Legal Services Program and I liked it. I like helping people in need who cannot help themselves.
