Wills, Trusts & Estates
My preference is to assist clients in planning and administering their estates so that there is a plan for health care and financial affairs in place in the event of incapacity during their lifetimes, and a plan to avoid probate and unnecessary estate taxes on death.
My preference is to work with executors, trustees or beneficiaries to administer the estate in a timely manner without delay.

We represented the daughter of a decedent in a probate proceeding. The decedent had never admitted to her daughter that she was her mother but they had lived together or close to one another all during the decedent's lifetime. Our client prevailed as the sole beneficiary of the estate.
We have represented beneficiaries, trustees and executors in contested proceedings with regard to the administration and distribution of an estate or trust.

The firm focus is estate planning and administration, probate, will contests, elder law and medi-cal planning. The firm has been in existence since 1987.
I have practiced law since 1980. Prior to that time I was the mother of three growing boys, a college instructor and a business owner. I was also a professional figure skater touring with Sonia Henie and other ice shows ( in my "salad days" to quote Shakespeare).
I am an active member and past president of the Monterey Peninsula League of Women Voters and a past board member of the California State League of Women Voters, involved in advocacy and education on issues, voter service and acting as moderator at candidate forums. I also serve on the board of the Monterey Peninsula College Foundation.
I think it is an excellent idea and we should not underestimate their ability to do so.
I am happy to review documents and to inform clients when I think they are in over their heads.
I am very willing to do this if it is a Small Claims matter, such as a landlord tenant dispute, in which I believe the client is prepared to represent himself adequately.
My motto is "Go For It", so that may express my personality along with my second favorite expression "Why Not". There have been lawyers in my family since Elizabeth the First, of England. Pre-destination? I enjoy the practice, the challenge of law, the idea that I am helping people because of my legal training and hopefully making a contribution to society as well.
Every day brings new and different challenges. Every matter is unique in some way, but I lean on past experience not only in the law but from life itself. Keeping current is very important. Having the education and experience to be a certified specialist has made a big difference in my ability to act in the best interest of my clients.
It was happenstance. While I was in law school a good friend died and named me executor of her holographic will. Yikes! That was my introduction to this area of law and I found I enjoyed it enough to take an advance degree in tax and to become a State Bar certified specialist.
What I like best is the challenge in solving problems to the satisfaction of my clients. Each case is different, because people and their needs are different. I miss my clients when they are no longer with us, but am compensated somewhat by the fact that we are carrying out their wishes in the administration of the estate or trust.
We have three lawyers and four staff. It is a very cohesive group.
Experience is a great asset in any field. Common sense is important as well.
I am well organized and tend to want to complete each project as quickly as possible.
I enjoy family and friends, figure skating tennis, traveling, cooking, theater, ballet, symphony etc.
