Clients should educate themselves before engaging a lawyer. While I welcome having clients educate themselves after retaining my office, there is a tremendous amount of misinformation on the internet and it is my responsibility to thoroughly explain the process and the law to my client so that they can make informed decisions.
Yes, it is essential that my client say nothing to anyone about their case unless I have reviewed it.
No; we routinely represent professionals, including lawyers. Even a skilled lawyer should not represent himself or herself in a criminal case.
To help clients facing a difficult situation in their lives.
Twenty years of defending criminal cases and working with other professionals to help clients get the best possible results.
To help clients facing a difficult situation in their lives.
I like helping clients cope with the criminal justice process and getting the best possible result.
We have seven attorneys in the office who practice criminal defense; four are listed as Northern California Super Lawyers and three are listed in the peer-reviewed publication "Best Lawyers in America". We also have an investigator with over twenty-five years of experience in criminal justice investigations.
The firm is rated A-V by Martindale Hubbell and is listed in Martindale Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
We share ideas on difficult cases or issues on a daily basis and at weekly attorney meetings. Our support staff is made up of caring and experienced professionals who share our commitment to our clients and to getting the best possible result in every case.
I am extremely thorough in gathering and evaluating evidence from every possible source (e.g., investigation, the discovery process, motions, public record, and subpoenas) and in marshalling that evidence to a prosecutor, judge or jury to obtain the best possible results.
I am patient and understanding with clients. I am always well-prepared for and tenacious and thorough in trial or hearing.
I enjoy family and skiing.

We do not charge for a consultation if a client is seriously interested in retaining our services but decides, for any reason, not to hire the firm.
The initial conference with a lawyer often takes from two to four hours and is a critical stage in our representation. We charge for our time at this conference if we are retained. We do not offer free consultations to clients who want a second opinion concerning their current counsel as such opinions usually require extensive documents and legal research.
Every case is different. Our retainer fees vary from several thousand dollars for less serious misdemeanor cases to fifty thousand or more for very complicated or serious felony matters. The requested retainer in most felony matters ranges between $7,500.00 and $25,000.00.
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the applicable bar associations upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any bar association.
