Firm Focus and History

My office is 100% focused on Family Law cases. I formed this practice in the summer of 1994 and have continued as a sole practitioner since that date.

Previous Employment Summary

I was employed as an associate with a small law firm after law school. At that firm I was responsible for cases in various areas of law, including Family Law. I remained with the firm for three years until I opened my own practice.

Activities and Awards

I am a true believer in the idea that one needs outside activities unrelated to law so that they can return to their office rejuvenated and ready to work. I hike regularly, enjoy my dogs, and am a long term fan of Stanford Women's Basketball. My work related activities are involvement in various Santa Clara County Bar Association committees, including the Family Law Executive Committee, Family Law Liaison (between bench and bar) and the Rainbow Committee. I have been a presenter at educational programs and frequently engage in discussion groups related to developments in cases and Family Law in general.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is always helpful to have a knowledgeable client. I encourage my clients to learn as much as possible.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes, I am willing to review documents prepared by clients.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Yes, I am happy to coach clients who want to represent themselves or to offer my services on a limited basis.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I wanted to save the world and fix all the problems I saw around me. Once I came back to reality, I decided to practice in the area where I thought I could help the most people.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

15 years of experience has taught me a lot. I continue to attend numerous educational seminars each year and participate in discussion groups to keep my knowledge and skills updated. I never stop learning as there are always new developments in this field of law. I learn a lot from watching and opposing my colleagues also.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

These cases are where I can make a difference.

What do you like best about your career?

I enjoy getting people through the court process so that they can move on to have a happy and successful life.

Tell us about your law firm:

Hayley is very bright and keeps my office running smoothly. She is committed to helping our clients navigate through the process and enjoys seeing their cases reach a successful conclusion.

What are your strengths and style?

I am from England and I think that taught me to be direct and frank. I keep things to the point and try to make things easy for the court and my clients to understand.

I am direct and to the point. I try to keep litigation to a minimum, promoting settlement at every opportunity. I try to keep costs as low as possible.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy hiking, my dogs, Stanford Women's Basketball, and sports in general.
