I handled a highly litigated custody trial involving two small children and a host of experts and witnesses. In addition, I successfully mediated and resolved a multi-million dollar property dispute involving real estate in and out of California and a community property business.

Matthew Sheasby and I were associate attorneys together at a family law firm in West Los Angeles that specialized in high-asset divorce cases. On March 1, 2004, we opened the Law Offices of Sheasby & Middleton with a commitment to communicate and support clients through tough family law matters. The Law Offices of Sheasby & Middleton focuses on family law and has represented clients in complex custody litigation, paternity, child support, prenuptial agreements, and complex high-asset divorces.
Prior to being an attorney, I worked in higher education for 12 years.
While in law school, I clerked for a family law commissioner and volunteered for a project assisting victims of domestic violence.
Only through understanding the nature and extent of California law, the unique facts of their case and its possible outcomes, can a client make an informed and intelligent decision on their own.
Yes.
When appropriate to the case, a client representing themselves is the best method to resolving a case.
My older brother was divorced when I was young and through the years I came to understand the unique impact that the law has on families.
Trial experience and continually keeping abreast of current statutory and case law give me the tools necessary to represent my clients to the best of my ability.
The effects of law on a family are always evolving, given politics, science, and social standards. I find assisting families through a divorce to be a challenging and rewarding experience.
I like being able to help people through a very difficult time in their lives. I like working with clients, whether in court or in office consultations.
Matthew Sheasby has been practicing family law for seven years. He has handled hundreds of cases, including child custody litigation and complex business issues. Shana Massimino is an up-and-coming second-year attorney who joined the firm in 2006. Cynthia Mardis has been a legal secretary for over 10 years and brings an expertise in organization to the firm.
My verbal skills and courtroom ability allow me to resolve cases that must be litigated.
I believe in initially attempting to settle a case amicably, but if that is not possible, I am an aggressive litigator who is not intimidated by taking a case to trial.
Reading, kickboxing, and of course, my family.
