I have been a sole practitioner in Sacramento area since 1982. I handle Social Security disability cases, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and private long term disability cases, government disability retirement cases, and also some personal injury cases. If you have more than one kind of disability claim, I can efficiently handle all of them. I do not abandon meritorious Social Security claims at the administrative level, litigating more such cases than most attorneys in this region.

Gradually increasing focus on disability over the years means that I do have fairly broad legal experience, though most of my practice now involves disability cases.

I am a Past President of Sacramento Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives and also have presented seminars on Social Security law.

Virtually everything I do is based on contingent fees. My fee agreements in Social Security cases conform to the regulations and are subject to approval of the Administration. My fee agreements for other work are comparable and competitive to those of other practitioners. Where flexibility is needed and possible, and contingent arrangements do not work, my fees are relatively low because clients typically have limited resources and such cases are usually fairly simple ones, representing only a small portion of my practice.

This rarely applies (see above). Currently, my LTD fee agreement refers to $225 per hour, though the fee to the client is based on a percentage of recovery. That figure simply represents a benchmark valuation of my worth for purposes of court-awarded attorney fees. In the few cases not susceptible to contingency fee arrangements, my charges will probably be less, for the reasons indicated above.

I offer free initial consultation, except perhaps if the client simply wants a one-shot chance to pick my brains and can afford to pay. I am forthcoming with free advice to people who contact me, but of course like to do this in the most efficient way possible, which may not be a personal consultation.
