It was easy for us to decide to practice social security disability law (both SSI and SSDI) because the founding partners of United Disability Lawyers Group (UDLG) have spent most of their distinguished careers helping clients with their disability claims; it was what they knew the longest and knew the best.
Additionally, we found it a REWARDING area of law to practice, because we have seen first-hand how very deserving claimants can be denied benefits and how getting legal assistance from a qualified attorney can make the difference between a denial and an award of benefits.
There are many well qualified social security disability lawyers, law firms, and advocacy groups.
We are an actual "law firm." We only send licensed attorneys to appear at hearings before administrative law judges. Other operators may appear to be law firms, but if you look closely you will see that they never use that term because they are advocacy groups and have the option of sending non-lawyer "advocates" to hearings. While many advocates do a fine job, at United Disability Lawyers Group, we only use licensed attorneys to appear at hearings.
We also handle SSDI and SSI cases at ALL LEVELS - from initial applications through reconsideration, hearings before an administrative law judge (ALJ), Appeals Council level, and on to Federal District Court. If necessary, we can take a case all the way through the Federal Court appeals process to the United States Supreme Court.
We also only practice social security disability law at United Disability Lawyers Group (UDLG). We do not handle personal injury, worker's compensation, criminal law, or any other area of law. We work on SSDI and SSI cases exclusively.
The UDLG team consists of attorneys with many combined years of experience with social security disability law.
* Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers. Any past disbarments and suspensions (with possible exceptions for minor violations or nonpayment of dues, in our discretion) will be indicated accordingly in the badge. Member attorneys are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
