After practicing as the Managing Attorney for one of the country's largest Bankruptcy firms I realized I could offer personalized service at a much lower cost. It was then that I decided to open my own office. Today I help clients throughout the Bay Area from our local San Jose office. The Law Offices of W. Kirk Moore is a Federal Debt Relief Agency focusing on offering personal attention and affordable rates in Bankruptcy representation. I personally strive to exceed the expectations of all my clients by addressing their individual needs and concerns. I offer free consultations, 6 days a week, and have flexible payment options. It is my job to ensure that the process of filing for Bankruptcy is as smooth and stress free as possible.
I've helped hundreds of people file for bankruptcy. Recently, I met with a single mother who had over $60,000 in medical debt; I helped erase her debt and stopped a lawsuit and wage garnishment. I helped a couple keep their home, two cars, and a small family business. I also helped completely wipe away a mountain of credit card debt that was burying a young man. There are many reasons people find themselves in such financial hardship, often due to uncontrollable events like divorce, accidents, job loss, or rise in mortgage payments.
My fees for a Chapter 7 are very reasonable and on a sliding scale. Chapter 13's can be filed for as little as $200 and the rest paid through the plan. I also offer very flexible payment plans for all my clients.
How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
I can truly say I love my work. I meet people each day and I help change their lives for the better in a very short period of time. Not many other lawyers can say that. I fight for my clients and I think that they can see that. The referrals of my clients' family and friends speak volumes, and let me know I'm in the right profession, helping the right people.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
There are so many rumors and stigmas about the law, especially in the field of Bankruptcy. That's why I encourage everyone to ask questions as well as do independent research before making any legal decision. It's my ethical duty to keep my clients' best interests in mind and oftentimes I suggest they visit my website or pick up a Nolo book in order to better educate themselves on the topic of bankruptcy.
Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am happy to review documents written by all my clients.
Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I am able to substitute for people who filed their own case and find themselves in over their heads. With the passage of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, people who once thought is was easy to file their own bankruptcy are now overwhelmed by the new code and are seeking the representation of an experienced attorney.
All my legal experience is in Bankruptcy, it's all I do. I've filed thousands of cases and helped people all over the Bay Area completely eliminate uncontrollable debt.
What makes me a better lawyer? Being a good listener.
When people come into my office they are overwhelmed by debt, unsure of their options, and scared of losing their homes, businesses, personal belongings, or wages. I approach each client with an open mind, I never judge or cast blame. I talk with my clients in plain English and treat them with respect. The way I see it, all attorneys have a law degree, but I believe it takes a more than that to be a good lawyer.
Personal interests: Eating all kinds of good food, my favorites are Soul Food, Peruvian, Thai, and Italian. I like watching sports on TV, and let me not forget, spending time with my beautiful wife.
