Virginia is a strict jurisdiction when it comes to criminal offenses, and in particular charges of DWI (driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs) and Reckless Driving. APLG advises that anyone charged with these offenses consults a local attorney
The most important thing to look for in a criminal traffic attorney is someone who knows the governing laws in your jurisdiction and the rules of evidence, i.e. what can and can't be used by the prosecutor to prove their case against you. Of course, in cases where the admissible evidence is overwhelming, it helps to have a merciful prosecutor or judge!

How do you tell whether the evidence is "overwhelming" or not? This is where a knowledgeable attorney can be invaluable to your case. Many times, driving-related criminal charges rely on little more than the arresting officer's testimony about how the defendant was driving and behaving and what the defendant admitted to the officer. Sometimes, they will also involve radar readings, field tests or breath tests for alcohol.

An attorney can help you determine exactly what and how strong the evidence is. Given the astronomical maximum punishments for these crimes in Virginia, you must take them very seriously. An attorney can help you figure out what your chances are of getting the charges reduced or dismissed. An attorney can help you figure out what your chances are of getting the charges reduced or dismissed thereby sparing you a whole lot of money, time and grief.

As always, APLG will provide you with a free initial case evaluation when you call or email.
Debt Settlement
APLG has represented dozens of clients owing significant sums of money to dozens of different creditors (typically these are collection agencies for hospitals or credit card companies), and has achieved positive results in many of those cases.
Many debt collectors purchase loans from the original creditor with the expectation of recovering less than the full amount owed. This is why they are frequently willing to negotiate a settlement worth 75%, 50% or even less of the debt owed! When you add up these savings over multiple loans owed, it could lead to results similar to those that would be achieved in bankruptcy, except with only a fraction of the time and costs involved.

Although an attorney is not necessary to negotiate debt settlements with collectors, we find that, generally speaking, collectors are willing to offer much lower settlements and much better terms when an attorney is involved. And they are willing to offer these things much more quickly!

Hiring an attorney is also advantageous because the law requires collectors to send any [annoying] communications through the attorney instead of directly to their clients. In addition, collectors know that a client who has hired an attorney is only a small step away from filing a lawsuit if they overstep the strict constraints of the law.

APLG knows how to filter out all of those annoying and unnecessary phone calls and letters from collectors and only pass on to you what is important for settling the debt. And we also know when collectors have crossed the line and may be liable to our clients for statutory damages.
Unlike most debt settlement firms, which may charge their clients a large up front fee or monthly payments extended over a year or more, APLG will only charge when a settlement on an account has been reached and accepted by the client.

This charge is not fixed, but will typically represent 20% of the amount by which the debt has been reduced on any given account. And when settlement offers are inadequate to provide the level of debt relief desired by our clients, VPLG is then willing and able to pursue other options for debt relief, such as collection defense or the filing of bankruptcy.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Ashvin Pandurangi, the Owner and Manager of APLG, has always been dedicated to the principle of debt relief and forgiveness. This is a principle of forgiveness which dates all the way back to the Leviticus code of the Old Testament, and is legally recognized all across the world. The U.S. in particular provides many avenues of debt relief through the legal process.

APLG recognizes that everyone from politicians, bankers and collectors to hospitals and educational institutions have contributed to soaring debt levels in the United States. Often times consumers find themselves buried in debt they can no longer afford due to little fault of their own. We believe these consumers deserve and are legally entitled to protection and debt relief.

Similarly, APLG understands that many people who have consumer financial issues may also be facing criminal charges. In fact, many times these criminal charges play a big role in ruining peoples' finances to begin with. Virginia has some of the most costly penalties for criminal traffic offenses compares to other jurisdictions.

We would like our clients to rest assured that their attorney's bill will not add too much to the cost of fines, classes, insurance, etc. that have already been imposed on them. And with detailed knowledge of Virginia traffic law AND consumer law, APLG can make sure our clients are aware of ALL legal options that can make their criminal charges less costly and less stressful.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

VPLG is currenly owned and operated by Mr. Pandurangi. He attended law school in Virginia (George Mason University) and began to focus on consumer law issues very early. His electives included bankruptcy, advanced bankruptcy, commercial paper and secured transactions.

During law school, Mr. Pandurangi worked at an internship at Legal Services of Northern Virginia, which provided free legal services to low-income individuals. He had a particular focus on housing and consumer law. After, law school, he continued to intern at several prominent bankruptcy firms in Virginia, including Krumbein & Associates and Krumbein Consumer Legal Services.

For the past year, Mr. Pandurangi has focused on his solo practice and represent dozens of clients who have had issues related to consumer finance. Debt Resolution and Settlement has been the primary area of his practice. He is willing and able to offer a full range of debt relief services for a very modest fee, and typically bases his firm's success on that of its clients. This means that we only get paid when our clients get relief!
