Firm Overview

Our law firm opened its doors in 1999. Since then, we have always practiced criminal defense and personal injury law. All of our lawyers are former prosecutors, experienced in the court room, and will stand by you to help you with your problem. Our law firm has a mock trial courtroom, where we constantly train our clients on how to testify in court and to prepare them for their day in court.
The Umansky Law Firm is located in Orlando, Florida and practices in the area of criminal and personal injury law. Our lawyers zealously advocate on behalf of our clients and aggressively pursue their objectives in a result oriented and competitive atmosphere. Many of our lawyers are former prosecutors and members of legal, political, social and charitable organizations such as Rotary, Florida and Orange County Bar, Florida Justice Association, and Florida Criminal Defense Lawyer Association, to name a few. Our law firm is based on the principle that everyone is entitled to a second chance.

We believe that people can break the law, make mistakes, or have a momentary lapse of judgment that causes them to do something that they may regret. They may commit crimes because of an ignorant mistake, lapse of judgment, or stressful occurrence that is going on in their life. We believe there should always be a second chance. We represent clients not criminals. We represent people, not convicts. We recognize that people make mistakes and our lawyers will help you in finding a better tomorrow. Our list of example cases would be too numerous to mention. We represent people charged with crimes such as Battery, Domestic Violence, Drug Offenses , Drug Trafficking Theft & Fraud Charges , Mortgage & Real Estate Fraud , Insurance Fraud, Sex Crimes, Internet Sex Crimes, Prostitution / Solicitation, Prostitution/Escort Sting Defense, Shoplifting Arrest, DUI/DWI/ Drunk Driving, Habitual Offenders, Commercial Driver's License Charges, Traffic Violations, Racing/Reckless Driving, Driving with Suspended License, Juvenile Defense, Juvenile Theft and Property Crimes.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I chose criminal defense as one of my areas of practice because I believe that all of us have the right to be protected against the government and that everyone is entitled to their legal rights under our Florida, and United States Constitution. At our law firm, we believe everyone is entitled to another chance. In our criminal practice, we have found that society judges a person for his or her criminal arrest history. We think that many times that is unfair. We believe that everyone makes mistakes. Despite our attempts to live a clean life, we still sin and cause people pain; none of us are without blame. In our practice, we strive diligently to give our criminal clients that second chance at life, to make sure that this mistake or arrest does not haunt them for the rest of their lives. I also pursue personal injury claims on behalf of injured victims. I believe people should be accountable for their mistakes and that my clients should receive fair compensation for their injuries including pain and suffering.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I believe my clients should educate themselves on legal issues. I believe that a self-educated client becomes a better client of our law firm because they are informed, confident of decisions they make, and confident of the advice we give them.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

People who get charged with crimes or hurt in accidents should not represent themselves in a court of law. I have undergone three additional years on top of five years of college with rigorous training in legal research, trial practice, and document preparation.

The Umansky Law Firm
William Umansky

I was both a former Assistant State Attorney and City Prosecutor for the city of Orlando. When I left the prosecutor's office I became an associate for several AV rated law firms doing personal injury work. I have been fortunate to work for national, well known and respected lawyers where I gained invaluable experience on how to try cases.
As a former state and city prosecutor, I believe I understand the prosecution perspective and the government's strategies in prosecution of cases. I can use that former experience as a trial prosecutor to better prepare my clients who are charged with crimes.

I also gave legal advice to police agencies and helped the police set up undercover operations in drugs, prostitution and other crimes. That experience has allowed me to understand law enforcement strategies in arresting and charging people with crimes and I can use that experience to file motions attacking the police evidence gathering tactics to help defend and protect my client's rights.

In addition to being a lawyer, I worked my way through college and law school. I worked a variety of jobs including restaurant and night clubs industry sales, retail, marketing and writing. These experiences have given me real life common sense which I can bring to the legal arena to find practical, useful solutions to my client's legal problems.
I care about everything I do and I am proud to serve my clients.
Personal interests:
Sports, traveling, reading, writing, and spending time with my wife and two kids.
