Criminal Defense
I've defended folks accused of crimes since 1999,including violent crimes, theft, drugs, and sex crimes. Each year I train in the most recent techniques in evidence, forensics, and law. You have to be ready for changes, the State is.
Rudy J. Rios has been in practice since 1999. We concentrate on all criminal matters, traffic and DUI. I serve suburban Cook County, Kane, DuPage and McHenry Counties. However, if the case is right, I have defended people as far away as Douglas County.
DUI cases need special skills from attorneys. I have defended DUI cases for 15 years. At every possible phase of a DUI we fight for your license and your freedom. Every year I take the most recent courses in defending DUI cases.
For 15 years I have defended people accused of DUI. The State has to prove a lot for a conviction. Often times, these types of cases can be won for lack of evidence. My job is to point out the lack of evidence that is frequently part of a DUI case.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

When I was around 9 years old, my father came upon an accident that had just occurred. I was in the car with him. He stopped and hopped out of the car and asked the people involved if they needed help. He help the people in the accident to get out of the vehicles, and sat them on the side of the road. We then went to a gas station nearby to call 911 (this was before cell phones). We went back to the scene and waited with the people until the Police arrived. My dad gave an officer his information and a description of what he saw... Weeks later my father was accused of having a part in causing the accident and fleeing! I knew it was not true, I was with him. He wanted to help. I recall my dad talking about how many times he had to go to court, and how he had to hire an attorney, and how expensive the whole thing was. The case against him was eventually dropped. It always bothered me that he was falsely accused, and how worried he was during that time. As I made my way through life, and college, I never for got the hassle my dad went through. Other similar experiences would come up, but I always compared them to my dad's. When my road led me to a career choice, I picked one that let me help my dad, or at least someone like him. I know that people make mistakes, or bad decisions. I know that some people are falsely accused or the charges are exaggerated. My job is to help those people.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?
