How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

After serving as Senior Staff Attorney for the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, it became clear that the process of applying for Social Security and SSI Disability Benefits was extremely frustrating, complex and nearly impossible to navigate. It would be virtually impossible for someone to try to go through the process without expert level legal representation. Making things even worse, it seemed that those who did retain counsel to assist them were often represented by attorneys and others that had very little understanding about how to achieve success. Many people who were clearly disabled were being denied benefits due to a whole host of mistakes being made by their representatives and the Disability Adjudicators who decided their cases.

Knowing them inner workings of the Disability Process and having a keen knowledge of Disability Law, we decided our skills would be better employed by assisting individuals who, due to no fault of their own, found themselves applying for Benefits. There has always been a large number of people who have tried to pursue their claims on their own with very poor results. We wanted to provide expert level representation to our fellow citizens because there is no need to fight the bureaucracy alone and every person deserves exceptional and expert level representation.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Former Senior Staff Attorney with the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. Former Staff Attorney to the Judges of the Atlanta North Hearing Office. Former Instructor and Lecturer for the Social Security Administration. One of the most successful Disability Attorneys in the US.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We offer a unique individualized Attorney-Client relationship. With our firm, the client has personal one-on-one contact with Mr. Hughes rather than being shoveled off to some non-attorney staff employee who has very little, if any, experience in successfully obtaining a favorable outcome to one's case. Most large "TV advertising" firms are little more than clearing houses where the client never meets or speaks with the attorney until the day of their hearing. Some larger firms simply farm cases out to other attorneys working on a contract basis and the client has no personal contact with the attorney until the very last minute, if at all. And. the attorney has very little concern of the client and with the outcome of the case. That is not the way we operate.

Our focus is on WINNING every case. Our clients always have direct access to Mr. Hughes at all times. Mr. Hughes is available to discuss and advise our clients at all stages in the Disability Process and he is sincerely concerned with the client's best interest and winning the client's case. We enjoy getting to know our clients and find that former clients are our best source of new referrals to our Firm. In fact, our clients are our best advertising and that is not a claim many others can make. Since we have been around for more than 25 years, it is fair to say that we have many thousands of successful and satisfied clients who are more than happy to send their friends and family to our Firm whenever the need arises. Few Disability Law Firms can make that claim.
