Hiring an Orange County divorce lawyer early in the process can help you avoid common pitfalls in this convoluted area of family law. There are a variety of complicated issues that accompany every divorce, from tax issues and property division, to child custody and spousal support. We take a comprehensive view of divorce proceedings and provide thorough analysis and accurate advice to our Orange County divorce clients.
Child Custody
Child custody is one of the most important issues for a parent contemplating divorce or already in divorce proceedings. The Goldberg Legal Group can help as it can be difficult for parents to agree on every child custody issue during a divorce.
One of the most sensitive and difficult areas of family and divorce law is child custody law. Whenever innocent kids are involved, it’s easy for things to get messy. In order to make an inherently unfair situation more fair, the law intervened and created numerous child custody laws which address as many issues as possible. One of the side effects, though, of this intervention is that understanding these laws can be especially difficult for regular people, meaning those without a legal background.

Luckily, the child custody attorneys at The Goldberg Legal Group have spent years both studying the law and practicing it. You can count on them to help you comprehend the intricacies of physical custody, legal custody, joint custody, as well as the differences between alternating custody and shared custody. Not only can they explain what each of these mean, but, more importantly, they can help you win the type of custody you are seeking.

Much of child custody law is not specifically defined; additionally, much of how it is interpreted and applied to your specific situation is totally up to the court. For example, according to California child custody law, all that is stated is that both parents should spend significant amounts of time with their children, with the result being “frequent and continuous contact.” Primary custody is awarded based on “the best interests of the child(ren).” But what do these mean, exactly? There aren’t hours or percentages listed. How is “best interest” measured? In the case of the latter, precedence may be the determining factor, when in your specific situation special details would outweigh what is usually decided. That’s why litigation, with the help of a child custody lawyer, is one of the best ways to ensure the courts make these determinations fairly or in your favor.
Family
Family law disputes can be particularly overwhelming.. The Goldberg Legal Group is proud to provide compassionate family law representation to our Orange County clients. We strive to deliver valuable family law advice and representation.
It can be exceptionally difficult for even the coolest heads to keep their emotions in check while dealing with contentious family law issues, such as divorce or child custody battles. How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Family law appealed to Attorney Goldberg because it covers a wide range of issues allowing the application of other fields of law, including some which were the focus of his legal education, like property, real estate, and tax law. In addition, family law allows David to work with contract law through the issues of child custody, child support, spousal support, attorney fees, breach of fiduciary duty, law and motion, discovery, mediation, and settlement negotiations.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

The firm attempts to aid clients that choose to represent themselves or may want a second opinion. The firm may be also retained as a consultant on a matter. This includes a range of tasks from preparing forms, to consulting as to strategy on a particular case, to also specifying the areas of strength or weaknesses in their case.

David A. Goldberg

As the principal attorney at The Goldberg Legal Group, Mr. David Goldberg brings over 12 years of experience as a practicing attorney to your case. He is both aggressive and detail oriented in all areas of family and divorce law in Irvine. Much of his early years was spent working as a personal injury lawyer, where he gained extensive experience representing those who need insurance defense or were pursuing civil litigation. This experience got him interested in family law.

Family law also brought with it a broader appeal for David Goldberg. Because it covers a range of issues, it allows him to apply other areas of law, including some which were the focus of his legal education, like property, real estate, and tax law. In addition, family law allows David to work with contract law through the issues of child custody, child support, spousal support, attorney fees, breach of fiduciary duty, law and motion, discovery, mediation, and settlement negotiations.

As a family law attorney, Mr. Goldberg specializes as an Irvine divorce attorney handling large asset cases where the parties involved have complicated marital estates and/or face complex business issues. His diverse legal background with experience in many areas as already outlined is an advantage to his clients because of the additional insight it gives him, especially in matters that are heavily contested where much is at stake.

His legal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at Riverside and a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law. After graduation, he was permitted to practice law before both the California State Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
