Family

The Dickerson Law Group provides comprehensive family law services to clients throughout Southern Nevada.

-Contested Divorce: In a contested divorce, the parties are unable to agree on one or more issues. Our firm provides knowledgeable representation to people involved in contested divorces, and we seek the best possible results for our clients. We also handle uncontested divorces.
-Uncontested Divorce and Annulments: If divorcing parties agree on every divorce-related legal issue, they can proceed with an uncontested divorce. Our firm also represents clients seeking an annulment, which, when complete, determines that the marriage never existed.
-Spousal Support: Spousal support, which is also known as spousal maintenance or alimony, can be awarded on a temporary, rehabilitative or permanent basis. Various factors go into making this decision, and each case is unique.
-Child Custody: Issues involving children are some of the most emotional and hotly contested aspects of a divorce. The Dickerson Law Group responds to your concerns with compassionate and knowledgeable assistance while we seek reasonable determinations of disputes regarding child custody arrangements and visitation agreements.
-Child Support: Whether you will be receiving support to care for your children, or you anticipate being responsible for paying support, we know that you want to ensure the fair amount is calculated. Our firm has in-depth knowledge of Nevada's child support guidelines, and we take the time to listen to your concerns about what is taken into consideration in these calculations.
-Property Division: As a community property state, Nevada divides property, assets and marital debts 50/50. We are here to identify what assets are yours separately, which are community and then seek the best possible property settlement for you.
-Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements: Our Nevada prenuptial agreement attorneys encourage people to consider the benefits that come with having a properly drafted prenuptial or postnuptial agreement. Whether you are getting married for a first or second time, have children from a previous marriage or are marrying later in life with significant assets, a prenuptial agreement may work for you.
-Military Divorce: We provide knowledgeable legal help to active duty military, retired military and their spouses. Our firm understands how to best protect your military retirement benefits and address any related problems.
-Domestic Partnerships: Effective October 1, 2009, people can file domestic partnerships with Nevada's Secretary of State. This document gives domestic partners many of the same rights as married couples.
-Adoptions and Termination of Parental Rights: Before a stepparent can adopt the biological child of his or her spouse, the parental rights of the other biological parent must be terminated. Our law firm represents clients in both matters. We also represent parents seeking to Terminate the Parental Rights in cases of parental neglect or abandonment.
-Guardianships: We assist clients in establishing a guardianship to care for a minor child or incapacitated adult.
-Mediation: Divorce by mediation can save time, money and emotional stress. Attorney Robert Dickerson can serve as your neutral third-party mediator.
-Family Law Appeals: If you are considering an appeal of a family law order, we can review the details of the original case and help to determine if pursuing an appeal is an appropriate option.
