Firm Overview

I joined my current partners in forming Clay Frederick Adams in 2010.

Our firm focuses on representing individuals and small local businesses in personal injury, employment, and commercial litigation. We are a firm of veteran trial attorneys who take on cases and clients we believe in. In personal injury, Ted's principal practice areas include trucking collisions, products liability cases, medication errors, food poisoning, toxic torts, and brain injury cases. Ted's other major practice area is employment litigation including sexual harassment, wrongful termination, whistleblower, racial discrimination, hostile work environment, FMLA, wage & hour, and unemployment hearings.

Example cases

Personal Injury:

Cases are as unique as individuals. While no two cases are alike some examples of the significant injury claims I have handled include:
• Action on behalf of two infants exposed to bacteria in powdered infant formula. One infant died and the other was severely brain damaged and will never live a normal life.
• Represented dozens of children in multiple cases who were lead poisoned due to known lead problems in and around their homes.

I have handled scores of bad faith insurance cases bad faith insurance cases, including obtaining verdicts for compensatory and punitive damages.

Employment Law:

• Racial Discrimination cases against mining companies, restaurants, and manufacturers.
• Whistleblower cases on behalf of health care workers
• FMLA cases against all types of employers
• Wage and Hour involving meal breaks and unpaid prep work.
• Sexual harassment cases in all types of industries.
• Equal Employment Opportunity Commission hearings.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I enjoy representing real people. The gratitude I get from grateful clients fuels me for the next battle.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I believe clients should carefully choose an attorney. Part of finding the right attorney for your case is learning a little about the legal area so you can ask the right questions. Clients help their cases by being involved, knowledgeable, and responsive.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes, I'm willing.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am generally not willing.

Ted Walton

I have been fighting for individuals and small businesses since 1999. During law school I worked for one of the leading local personal injury firms handling asbestos and major injury cases. In 1999 I joined the public defender's office and gained immediate jury trial experience in major felony cases. Before opening my own firm in 2010 I was a senior litigator with a well-respected mid-sized firm in Louisville handling major cases including major personal injury, employment, and commercial cases.

I have real litigation and trial experience. Since joining my current partners I primarily represent individuals in personal injury and employment claims, but over my career I have defended major companies and small businesses in similar litigation. Having handled cases from both perspectives I am better able to evaluate cases and serve my clients' interest.

My strengths are persistence, depth of knowledge, and personal attention to my clients.

Personal interests:

I am interested in work and family. As a trial lawyer and the father of two adorable young boys there isn't much time for much else.
