My firm focuses in the area of criminal defense, personal injury, and estate planning.
I have been a sole practitioner since January 2002. We were established to assist those in need of representation in the criminal courts; however, we have expanded to assist those in civil court as well.
I was lead counsel in a jury trial that lasted in excess of six months. My client was charged with 156 Felony counts as well as multiple misdemeanor counts. The court dismissed more than 100 of the counts prior to defense's case. They jury came back with a verdict of guilty of one felony count and one misdemeanor count. I have tried numerous cases from complex felonies to more simply misdemeanor and DUIs. I am comfortable in the courtroom and that is where I prefer to spend my time.

I was interested in trying cases and helping those who needed the most help in society. I am not interested in sitting behind a desk and watching the law develop; I want to be an active part of developing that law.
The more educated a client is, the better they understand their legal situation and the better they can assist their attorney in their case. I try to provide my clients with all the information they need to make informed decisions about their cases.
I am always willing to review documents for clients and advise them in connection with those documents.
In general, I am unwilling to coach those clients who represent themselves because I believe that all litigants need the professional services of an attorney. However, I have, on occasion given advice to those who choose to represent themselves.
1993-2000: Associate, Law Office of Katherine Hart.
2001-2002: Managing Partner, Crawford, Hogue & McClelland LLP.
2002-present: Sole Practitioner.
Note: Between 2005 and 2009 I was the owner/operator of the Unknown Surf Shop in Pismo Beach, CA. I balanced the retail shop with my practice during those years.
I have been in want and I have had plenty. I do not judge those around me because I was once in their shoes. I have worked as a car wash, food service provider, and have owned a retail establishment (surf shop). My work experience spans from the time I was 14 until now and I know that the work force is what makes this world go around. I use these life experiences to assist clients in their cases as well as fight for their rights as citizens.
I am a relentless advocate as well as a consummate competitor. I use common sense and life experience to dictate the direction of an argument or a case. Honesty, integrity, and loyalty are essential in my line of work and I strive to make those primary parts of my practice.Personal interests:
I enjoy time with family, my wife and four children. I enjoy coaching junior Olympic softball, surfing, and all sports.
