Firm Overview

Your business, your job, your family - these are the most important elements of your life. The attorneys at Stavros Law, P.C., understand. We know that our clients bring us some of their most important issues in life, and expect us to handle these issues as if our own. And we thrive on and relish this immense pressure. In fact, Stavros Law is used to getting paid on the results we obtain for our clients. And we wouldn't have it any other way, because our interests are aligned with yours. If we didn't provide direction and deliver results, we wouldn't be in business.

Our attorneys are dedicated to our clients because, frankly, they're a lot like us: ordinary people who are honest, work hard and try to do what's right and fair on a daily basis. From the fast growing and rapidly expanding regional business to the lone individual at risk of losing everything, we take pride in representing the little guy in a world that's increasingly grown accustomed to focusing solely on the interests of multi-national corporations and the mega wealthy.

While our firm has exceptional and talented lawyers, we are more than just lawyers. We are also entrepreneurs, small business owners, spouses, parents and community advocates. Our lives and experiences - and our time spent with other law firms - have shaped our approach to the practice of law. We don't practice law they way other firms do. When you come to our office, you will find skilled attorneys who treat you like an individual, not just another client, and work diligently to achieve the results you want. Even better, you will find attorneys who work as hard as you do and who vigorously defend your interests. But, unlike many firms, we aren't opposed to innovation. We understand that business and life changes rapidly, and that you need lawyers who can adapt quickly to changing environments. So we work hard to serve you in new and better ways, like results-driven fee arrangements, value billing, and innovative in-house counsel services and related models that put pressure on us to deliver results for you.

Stavros Law was founded with a clear mission: providing sound direction and delivering excellent results for our clients in a small, client-focused law firm. Our lawyers and staff are dedicated to serving our clients' needs and doing everything they can to make sure that we accomplish our clients' goals.

What does that mean for you?

Well, it means you get the results you want. We encourage you to speak to our former clients. They will tell you that Stavros Law isn't your typical law firm. Yes, we are very good at what we do, and often receive praise from the lawyers, judges and other professionals we work with on a daily basis. But, our most important objective is receiving your praise. And, frankly, we excel at that. Because we understand that, as lawyers, we are obligated and committed to advocating for our clients' best interests. And, in order to do that effectively, we know that we must listen to you and truly identify your objectives and goals, and then deliver direction or provide results that you want.

Most lawyers and law firms are terrible at listening and communicating with clients. As a result, they often fall woefully short in satisfying client objectives, even while providing skilled legal assistance. These lawyers fail to understand that being a good lawyer is much more than knowing the law, or knowing how to try a case, or being an aggressive advocate. Yes, those things matter, but only if a lawyer understands and listens to the client, and tailors a strategy that will serve the client's goals.

How we make a difference in your life?

As a small firm, every single client we have is important, from our individual clients to our largest business clients. Because you matter, we make sure that we devote the time and resources needed for your case, and provide excellent representation to achieve the results you want, without forcing you to pay for the bloated overhead and excessive hourly rates of large law firms.

Because significant part of our practice centers on business law and employment law, we often spend time assisting our clients with preventative legal measures, and advising them on day-to-day issues in order to reduce risks, limit fees and, quite frankly, minimize the time and money they pay to us or other law firms. While we work hard to foster a close and mutually beneficial relationship with you, we understand that you'd rather not be paying for our services and spending so much time in our office. So we work hard to minimize your legal expenses while protective your interests.

When you need the best in family law services, you need the assistance of the skilled lawyers as Stavros Law.

No one enters a marriage thinking that it will end in divorce. Unfortunately, your marriage may have reached the point where you realize that divorce is not only possible but inevitable.

At Stavros Law, we provide caring, knowledgeable legal support to people who are either planning for divorce or going through the process. If you are facing a divorce, you will have to make numerous important decisions about your family, children, home, property and assets. Our lawyers will help you explore issues such as:

Property and asset division: In Utah, marital property is divided by equitable distribution. Equitable distribution means that the marital assets will be divided fairly between the parties, which is not necessarily a 50-50 division.

Spousal support: There are two types of alimony in Utah: alimony paid while the divorce is in process and alimony that is paid after the divorce is final. We can assist you with alimony determinations.

Child custody: In Utah, custody is determined by what is in the best interests of the child. If the parents cannot agree on what is in the child's best interests, the court will decide.

Visitation: Unless there are concerns about parental fitness or ability to care for the child, Utah courts believe that children are best served by spending time with both of their parents.

Child support: Utah child support guidelines calculate each parent's child support obligations based on factors such as the incomes of both parents, the child custody arrangement and the number of children supported.

If you and your spouse agree on how to resolve all of these issues, your divorce will be uncontested. However, if you are unable to reach on any of these issues, your divorce is considered contested.

Please call us to discuss your case, or visit our website, stavroslaw.com, for additional information about the family law services we provide.
Child Custody
Stavros Law P.C. is a boutique law firm focusing on business, employment and family law matters that offers unparallelled skill and advocacy to its clients. When you need the best, call Stavros Law P.C. We provide direction and deliver results!
When issues of child custody arise, you need lawyers who will fight aggressively, compassionately and tireless on your behalf to ensure that your child's best interests are represented, and that your relationship with your child is secured.

If you are going through a divorce in Utah, it's important to put the love of your children above any negative emotions you may be feeling toward your spouse. In all likelihood, you and your ex will need to cooperate on parenting issues in the future. How you resolve child custody and visitation issues during your divorce can set the tone for how you will work together to raise your children in the future.

That is why it is important to have experienced representation during child custody negotiations and hearings: the future of your children is at stake.

The attorneys at Stavros Law, P.C., understand how critical these decisions are. We work diligently to protect your rights as well as the rights of your child.

In Utah, child custody and parent time (visitation) are determined by what is in the best interests of the child. The court may consider the conduct and moral character of each parent as well as which parent is likely to act in the child's best interests. The bond of the child with each parent will also be taken into account. Children may express their wishes regarding custody, but this alone will not determine child custody.

There are two types of child custody: legal custody and physical custody. The parent(s) with legal custody will make decisions regarding health care, education and religion. Physical custody is the term for the parent with whom the children will live. Both legal and physical custody can be sole, joint or split.

Child Support
Stavros Law P.C. is a boutique law firm focusing on business, employment and family law matters that offers unparallelled skill and advocacy to its clients. When you need the best, call Stavros Law P.C. We provide direction and deliver results!
In Utah, both parents have an obligation to support their children after divorce. Parents must also provide health insurance for children and are required to share the cost as well as the cost of other medical and child care expenses.

The attorneys at Stavros Law can ensure that your children receive an appropriate amount of child support. In Utah, the amount of child support is based on several factors, including the incomes of both parents, the number of children supported and the child custody arrangement. The sole child custody calculator is used when the noncustodial parent has fewer than 111 overnights a year with the children. The joint child custody calculator is used when each parent has more than 110 overnights a year. Utah also has split custody calculator when there are two or more children, and each parent has primary custody of at least one of them.

The most common issue in child support payments is parental income used in the calculation. If one of the parents is self-employed, owns a business or is underemployed, then the assistance of a lawyer may be needed to determine the parent's income. Our lawyers use forensic accountants and other experts to ensure that child support is calculated fairly.

Child support continues until the child turns 18 and finishes high school. The court can modify child support orders if one parent's financial circumstances undergo a substantial change or the needs of the children change.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Our founder started his career working for a large law firm, defending the interests of national and international companies. While the work was challenging and interesting, it didn't provide the level of satisfaction Mr. Stavros desired, or the close personal relationships with clients he thrived upon.

So, in 2007, after practicing law for more than eight years, Mr. Stavros formed Stavros Law P.C., with the mission of creating a boutique law firm focused on serving the needs or ordinary people who seeking extraordinary results.

Stavros Law originally focuses on business, employment and health care law matter. Since then, the practice has grown to include other related practice areas, such as family law, workers compensation and related areas.

Stavros Law specializes in only a few areas of the law, with an emphasis on the legal issues that arise in your business, at your work and with your family. These are the most important aspects of your life, and we thrive on assisting you with such highly important and critical matters. In fact, we wouldn't have it any other way.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

While our firm has exceptional and talented lawyers, we are more than just lawyers. We are also entrepreneurs, small business owners, spouses, parents and community advocates. Our lives and experiences - and our time spent with other law firms - have shaped our approach to the practice of law.

Simply put: we don't practice law they way other firms do.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Compassion. Dedication. Innovation. Work Ethic. Commitment. Skill. And, most importantly, an unwavering dedication to serving and achieving the results our clients want.

We understand that our most important indicator of success is our clients' satisfaction. It is our highest and most important aim, and the way we measure our success.

Andrew W. Stavros

I started working as a lawyer in 1999 at a large law firm, defending primarily large businesses and insurance companies. I then was offered a position as a partner at a new firm, and worked as a co-founder of that firm until starting Stavros Law P.C. in 2007.

Stavros Law P.C. was founded with the purpose of bringing high quality legal representation to a small, boutique firm that focused on client satisfaction and innovation. We wanted to practice law in new and better ways, and improve the delivery of legal services to our clients.

We have grown every year, and continue to add excellent attorneys with experience in a variety of practice areas, including civil litigation, employment law, business law, real estate law, family law, health care law and related fields.

My practice focuses primarily on litigation and counseling in the areas of business law and commercial litigation, employment law and employment litigation, and health care law and health care litigation. I also provide support to our other attorneys and staff on a variety of other civil and trial litigation services.

My employment law experience includes discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, state and federal leave, privacy and confidentiality, wrongful termination, whistleblower, retaliation, labor-management relations, breach of contract, fiduciary duty and related claims. I appear frequently in state and federal court, before administrative bodies and in arbitrations and mediations of employment matters for both employers and employees.

My business law and commercial litigation experience includes assisting small and growing businesses with every day legal matters, including entity formation, joint ventures, acquisitions, contracts, licensing, commercial disputes, complex commercial litigation, breach of contract, partnership and closely-held business disputes, false advertising, fraud and misrepresentation cases, unfair competition, non-compete, non-disclosure and non-circumvention matters, mechanic's liens, warranties and many other business-related issues. Mr. Stavros appears frequently in state and federal court, before administrative bodies and in arbitrations and mediations of business matters.

In addition, I assist with litigation matters related to divorce, child custody and child support, adoption and related family law matters, including other civil litigation provided by our firm.
