Roy Sjoberg

Roy A. Sjoberg opened the doors of Sjoberg Legal Services, Ltd. on October 15, 1982. Prior to practicing law, he worked as a health and life insurance agent, and it was in doing this that he learned the great value of persistence and perseverance. Bolstered by these qualities, he worked earnestly to build his law firm. Over time, he built a team of exceptional staff and fellow attorneys. Today, Sjoberg & Tebelius is a thriving practice, respected by both clients and the community.

Roy is very proud of the vast experience represented among the attorneys of Sjoberg & Tebelius. His particular area of expertise is estate and business planning. He believes this is a very personal field, and as such works to create a close relationship with each of his clients. He is humbled each time a prospective client places their trust in him, permitting him to develop a deep understanding of their values and aspirations.

Recognized by his peers for his exceptional interpersonal skills, Roy has a unique ability to address complicated issues with practical, yet sophisticated, planning solutions. His clients often come to him with blended family circumstances and are unable to work through an estate planning solution on their own. His approach permits clients to talk openly about their thoughts, concerns, and fears without causing emotional crises in their relationships.

For his clients who are business owners and seeking his guidance for the successful continuation of their businesses, he develops customized solutions to pave the way for a smooth transition into their company's future.

Outside of work, Roy is most passionate about making a difference in social and civic concerns, particularly when he observes those in power and influence taking advantage of those who are under-represented. For example, as an elected public official for St. Croix County, he aims to keep groundwater safe for small farm residents against the abuses of absentee-owner mega-farms.

Rotary International introduced Roy to the community leaders of Hudson, Wisconsin, his home for the last 25 years. Through the organization, he has led mission trips to Nicaragua, hosted foreign exchange students, served as Club President 2001-02, and served as District Governor 2008-09.

Roy and his wife enjoy traveling together, and spend much of their summers camping and biking. Roy has a background in music education, and in addition to singing in choirs, he enjoys attending concerts, particularly the Minnesota Opera. He also spends his time writing, reading, and playing cribbage with his wife.

In looking forward in his life and career, Roy knows one thing is certain: "I will never give up my positive attitude that I can and I must do my best to make a difference in the world. That passion is at the very core of my beliefs."

David Meier

Civil litigation can often be fraught with frustration and extreme challenges, but David K. Meier works diligently to provide steady counsel and clear direction. He strives to keep the big picture in sight and nothing satisfies him more than to see his clients evolve and learn to thrive during the litigation process.

David focuses his practice in family law, an area that became of great interest once he observed the direct and positive impact his efforts had on his clients' personal lives. David joined Sjoberg & Tebelius in 2003, after working in his own solo civil litigation practice for twenty years.

David is a zealous and tenacious advocate for his clients, while still being known as honest and respectful. He is known among his colleagues for his thoughtful analysis of cases, and his strong representation in court and at the mediation table. He wants his clients to leave the process feeling pleased that he was on their side. He appreciates the strong commitment to ethics and professionalism at Sjoberg & Tebelius, and is glad to belong to a group of lawyers held in such high esteem.

He is equally committed to his many volunteer obligations. He's very involved within his church and its parochial school. In addition to golfing, he says working part time as a seat vendor for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings helps him stay active. Leo Schumacher

Leo F. Schumacher is always looking for his next great adventure, whether it's hiking the Pacific Northwest, climbing the mountains of Ecuador, or discovering the next great Americana/folk band. Maybe that's why he enjoys his commercial real estate practice so much. For those who would argue that commercial real estate can't be all that exciting, Leo firmly disagrees. Coming to work means jumping into a new challenge every day, from assisting clients with the acquisition and development of real estate to negotiation of leases. If his work didn't give him the adrenaline rush he craves, he'd hit the trail with Rainy, his beloved basset hound.

In addition to being a certified Real Property Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association, Leo has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell® as AV Preeminent. Leo also has extensive experience in advising closely held business in a broad range of issues, including business structuring, mergers, and acquisitions.

Anne Brown

For Anne G. Brown, being a lawyer is more than a profession-it's in her blood. A fourth-generation attorney, Anne has been practicing law for 22 years. She joined Sjoberg & Tebelius in 2005, bringing to the firm a diverse background in several areas of law. Anne has experience as an appellate court law clerk, adjunct law professor, juvenile public defender, as well as an extensive and varied history as a private practitioner. This background allows her to easily connect and contribute her creative expertise to many different types of cases for our clients.

Anne appreciates how Sjoberg & Tebelius addresses a broad range of legal areas, providing many opportunities to collaborate with her colleagues. She is skilled at breaking down complex issues into understandable components. She is known for being an efficient problem solver.

Her strong writing background has helped her become the "go-to" when it comes to research and preparation of persuasive arguments. Anne's desire is for clients to come away from their experience feeling as if she has helped make difficult situations easier to endure and that their expectations have been exceeded.

Anne has a passion for writing and is a published author of young adult fiction. Additionally, she is involved in the world of Irish dance, as well as grassroots community and youth organizations. Anne enjoys spending time with her children, reading, and getting away to her cabin on Lake Superior. She hopes to one day retire to Ireland (if only she could convince her husband to follow her).

David and his wife enjoy traveling and spending time with their six grandchildren.
