Richard H. Seaton Sr.

Dick Seaton is the firm's senior partner, with 50 years experience in the state and federal courts. He concentrates in employment and school law, probate and estate planning, workers compensation and commercial and civil litigation. He carries the highest rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Seaton has considerable appellate experience before the Tenth Circuit and the Kansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Appearing twice in the U.S. Supreme Court, he most recently successfully represented the Plaintiff in Umbehr v. County Commissioners, a free speech case. As a result of that case, he was named a lawyer of the year by Lawyers Weekly U.S.A. Mr. Seaton is also listed in 20th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in America.

Dick was for many years the general counsel for Kansas State University, where he handled cases relating to civil rights, employment, constitutional and administrative law. He also serves on the Board of Editors of the Kansas Bar Journal, and is a former chairman.

Richard H. Seaton, Jr.

Richard H. Seaton, Jr. is a Partner in the firm. His main areas of focus include criminal defense, personal injury, domestic and family law and firearms law.

An experienced trial lawyer who has appeared in civil and criminal cases throughout Kansas, Richard has also handled civil and criminal cases in the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. He has practiced extensively in Federal District Court for the District of Kansas and has tried jury cases in both state and federal court.

Mr. Seaton has defended clients charged with first degree murder, manufacture of controlled substance, rape, arson, kidnapping, and various lesser felonies and misdemeanors. His areas of concentration in the domestic and family law areas include divorce, paternity proceedings, CINC actions, child support and child custody. Richard deals with personal injury matters ranging from wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases to simply automobile accidents. Firearms Law includes wrongful simple NICS denials, FFL defense, NFA Trusts, firearms seizures, Lawful use of force and other 2nd Amendment issues.

After graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1988, Richard practiced in Wichita until he joined our firm in 1998. He is admitted to practice law in all Kansas courts, the Federal District of Kansas, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Kansas Association for Justice, the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Richard is a referral layer for the National Rifle Association, The Kansas Rifle Association and the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network.

Summer Ott Dierks

Summer was born in Kiowa, Kansas. She was raised in Coffeyville, Kansas and attended Kansas State University from 2002-2005 obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Communications and Journalism.

Before attending law school, Summer worked at the Kansas State University Foundation fundraising for the College of Agriculture from 2005-2007. She then worked at the Manhattan Convention and Visitors Bureau as the Convention Sales Manager until 2010.

During law school, Summer clerked for the Honorable Steve Leben, Judge at the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Attorney General, Criminal Litigation Division. She was also licensed to practice law as a student in the Washburn University Law Clinic. She was awarded her Juris Doctor in 2012 from Washburn University School of Law.
