Firm Overview

Experienced Orange County Personal Injury Attorneys

Russell & Lazarus personal injury attorneys represent injured victims of accidents, who need help obtaining appropriate treatment and compensation for injuries they have incurred. We have personally assisted over 5,000 clients who have sought our experienced legal services; 95% of whom have had successful outcomes. We know first hand how difficult it can be to deal with the aftermath of a serious accident, especially when you are facing a debilitating injury or the overwhelming struggle to make sense of the tragedy of losing a loved one. We work by way of a contingency contract, which means our clients pay us nothing unless we obtain a recovery on their behalf.

Our compassion and a willingness to work harder and smarter than the opposition insures that we obtain the best possible results for our clients. Our philosophy is simple: Your job is to recover and heal, our job is to do everything else. We are a law firm respected by our opponents, the Insurance Industry and by the Judges. Many of our cases come from the referrals of past and current clients.

How we educate our clients

We help educate our clients and the public at large about their rights, and also about the tactics that insurance companies will use against victims of accidents. Although many injured individuals attempt to settle auto accident claims without retaining a lawyer, it may be advisable to retain an attorney who exclusively handles personal injury claims. A 2004 study entitled "Paying for Auto Injuries" commissioned by the Insurance Research Council, contains statistics showing that insurance settlements paid out on accident claims are 4.8 times higher when a personal injury lawyer is involved in the claim than when an injured individual settles the claim on his or her own. Firm founder, Christopher Russell, has had a similar track record and has such a reputation in handling personal injury claims that he has achieved a perfect 10.0 rating on Avvo.com, the leading on-line attorney rating site, which rates personal injury attorneys primarily as a result of client and peer reviews.

Our team of Orange County personal injury attorneys at Russell & Lazarus urge all victims of accidents caused by others to retain a strong, aggressive, and compassionate law firm. We will be the strength at your side when you need it the most. If you have questions, or need accident related help, please contact us at (855) 851-2400 for a free consultation.

Services Offered For Fixed Fees?

What Type of Compensation is Available in a Personal Injury Case?

A dollar amount for the injuries sustained is considered compensatory, and includes such items as:

*Medical bills, both past and future
*Loss of wages and other income
*Property damage
*Pain and suffering

In some cases, punitive damages designed to set an example of, and punish, the defendant may be awarded in addition to compensatory damages.

If Insurance Companies Are Involved, Why Do I Need a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Insurance is a business; the smaller the payout for settlements, the higher the profit. Statistically, a plaintiff who retains counsel typically receives a larger damage award.

What if I Was Partially at Fault in the Incident which Caused My Injury?

California is a comparative negligence state, which means you can recover the percentage of damages actually caused by another's negligence. For example, if you sustained $100,000 of damages, and it was determined you were 25% at fault, you could still recover $75,000 from the party or parties responsible.

How Do I Know if I Have a Case? How Do I Know How Much My Case Is Worth?

The first thing an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer should do is thoroughly examine your case, evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, and explain the process to you. Knowing precisely what the case is worth typically takes time to fully understand as the investigation proceeds and all the facts are revealed.

Not only are you trying to figure out how the ordeal is going to affect your family, but you probably also are wondering if you ever will make a full recovery. The easiest way to let yourself focus solely on getting better is to enlist experienced Orange County car accident lawyers to help you. By hiring an Orange County car accident attorney, you can focus on your recovery, while your attorney deals with the difficult task of collecting damages and bringing a lawsuit.

For more than 25 years, an Orange County car accident lawyer at Russell & Lazarus has helped individuals in Orange and Riverside Counties recover for their injuries.

The ways we help clients include:

**Sit down with the client and his family to find out exactly what happened, review his injuries and expected recovery, and determine what it will take to remedy the situation.

**Obtain the accident report from the police or California Highway Patrol after the car, truck, or motorcycle accident.

**Recreate the scene during an accident reconstruction, which includes mapping out the areas of travel and taking photographs, if necessary.

**Gather witness statements from those people who were present during the accident.

**Obtain the highest possible compensation amount for the car, truck, or motorcycle damage or total loss.

**Ease the burden of constantly being bothered by the at-fault party's insurance company by taking over all correspondence with their office, and directing it to ours.

**Contact the client on a regular basis for medical treatment updates, so that once treatment is finished, medical records and corresponding bills can be ordered and submitted to the insurance company.

**Work with the client and the client's employer to calculate lost wages for reimbursement.

**Let the insurance company know how the accident not only affected the victim's health, but also his personal life, including how the accident has affected relationships with those closest to the victim and his ability to do the things he loves.

**Negotiate with the at-fault insurance company on the victim's behalf to obtain the best possible settlement, and accept only after the client's express consent.

Christopher Russell

Christopher understands personally how overwhelming it is to be involved in a serious accident, as he has had several close family members suffer accident related injuries, including his two youngest daughters who were seriously injured by an intoxicated boat driver.

Christopher has been practicing law since 1984 and is the founder and principal partner of Russell & Lazarus APC. The firm of Russell & Lazarus was established in 1998 and is located in Newport Beach, California, with offices serving Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Sacramento and Orange Counties. Mr. Russell began his practice with the premise that by meeting the needs of his clients first, the needs of his firm and his employees would then also be met. Mr. Russell coached high school football as a way to put himself through college. He practices law and lives his life by following the lead of former Notre Dame head coach, Lou Holtz: 1. Do right by people at all times; 2. Do everything to the best of your ability; 3. Show people you care.

Experience

Christopher and his Associates have successfully litigated over 3,000 personal injury claims to verdict or have settled the claims prior to trial or arbitration, ranging in value from $25,000 to $7.2 million. Chris belongs to the American Association of Justice (formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association), the Consumer Attorneys Of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association Of Los Angeles and the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. Chris has also been admitted to all of the courts of the State of California and has argued cases in the Federal Courts as well as the California Court of Appeals. He shares strategies and communicates daily with his Plaintiff attorney colleagues across the State of California on topics including trial tactics, judge selection, expert witness background information, medical provider credibility etc. These strategies help put his clients in the best position to allow them to resolve their injuries as quickly as possible and to obtain fair compensation from at-fault parties who are many times represented by insurance companies which seem to have lost the ability to even understand what the word "fair" means.

He has worked on almost every type of personal injury claim imaginable, including motor vehicle collisions, product liability claims, slip, trip and fall claims, premises liability claims, animal inflicted injury claims, work related claims, sexual assault claims and the list goes on. The common theme to all of these claims was that someone was injured and they needed help. Chris' goal in helping people is two fold; get them better and get them fair compensation. 95% of the time Chris has recovered compensation on behalf of his clients with that number not being 100% only because Chris does not shy away from taking on difficult liability claims when the injuries are substantial.

Personal

Christopher has been blessed in being married to Helene St. Pierre Russell for 29 years. He has four grown daughters, who, along with his wife, are the loves of his life. His current hobbies are few, as he lives a busy life practicing law and helping his clients, along with keeping up with weddings and the college comings and goings of his daughters. When his girls were active in sports, he coached, sponsored or helped coach in excess of 50 of their sports teams. When he does have spare time, Chris enjoys giving back to the community in the context of activities or events that involve preventing injuries or honoring those who have been injured or killed in accidents. Chris has been a primary sponsor of the Sarah DeMille annual Cross Country race which was established in memory of one his daughters' classmates who died tragically in a car crash. Chris is also a primary sponsor for "Swim for Life", an organization devoted to preventing child drowning, which is still the number one cause of death for children under the age of 5 in Orange County. Chris is the third of six children with his youngest brother, John, heading up his affiliate office in Northern California, Russell & Philbrick.

Education

In 1981 Chris received his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Long Beach State University and in 1984 he received his Juris Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He has taught business law at the University of California at Irvine and has taught trial practice at Western State Law School. He is the author of "How Smart People do Dumb Things to Destroy Their Personal Injury Claims", a book that focuses on avoiding common mistakes in the claims process after a serious accident or injury.
