Many people run into financial problems from time to time. Sometimes, the situation is temporary and can be resolved before it gets out of control. But if you are hit with an expense that was never anticipated, such as a large, uninsured medical bill, you may find it impossible to work it into your monthly budget. An experienced bankruptcy attorney will be able to provide you with the guidance you need.

In some cases, what appears to be a small problem may be a symptom of a larger problem. For example, you may be scraping by making your monthly payments on time but find it necessary to borrow money via your credit cards to meet your living expenses.

If this pattern continues over a period of time, at some point, the debt will build up will be monstrous not to mention the wave of emotions that are attached to debt. If you feel that your debt problem is heading in this direction, you should review the situation with an attorney experienced in bankruptcy law to help you decide whether bankruptcy would be appropriate for you.

Bankruptcy may not solve the problem or it may involve potential risks and expenses which would make it inappropriate. Our firm spends time with you so you understand the facts of your particular situation, and will give you advice tailored to meet your specific needs.

It is almost never too late to file for bankruptcy, assuming it is not a debt incurred through fraud or domestic support obligation.

You can erase the debt even if a creditor has filed a lawsuit against you and received a judgment. You can even erase the debt if they have a lien against your property.

We are sure you have a ton of questions! Does the government go after my car, property & other assets if I file for bankruptcy? This is the misconception that keeps people who really should file for bankruptcy from doing it here in Ohio.

Many people think the government will sell everything they have and they'll have to start over in a cardboard box, which is not true. While the bankruptcy laws vary from state to state, every state has exemptions that protect certain kinds of assets: house, retirement plans, household goods and clothing, etc.

This is why you need an expert bankruptcy attorney handling your case. Filing the incorrect exemptions can cause you to lose property. Hiring an attorney is a small price to pay in order to insure that you will not have any unexpected surprises.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Early in my career I worked for well-known bankruptcy firm where a client was treated like an account number and desperate people would have to wait months for their cases to be filed. I was convinced that it could be done better. I knew there had to be a better way to treat people with dignity and respect while providing them with sound advice, exceptional service, and top of the line bankruptcy representation. My vision became a reality in 1983 when I founded Rubinstein Law Firm.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

Track record speaks for itself:

- 0 complaints = Ohio Bar Association
- 0 complaints = Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association
- "Rated A" on Better Business Bureau
- Member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I handle all documentation preparation for my clients.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

To understand bankruptcy law can be extremely confusing. While it's refreshing to speak with clients who have researched their case, my job is to help educate them in the choices they have.

What are your firm's strengths and style?

Our firm's main strength is to provide expert advice while maintaining a high level of compassion. We care heavily for our clients. Bankruptcy can be embarrassing and emotionally trying. My job is to help alleviate this stress by giving you options to set you on a new financial path.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)

I began my bankruptcy career working for a large bankruptcy firm where people were treated like cattle instead of a human being. I didn't like that. Bankruptcy is one of those areas of law where a gentle hand and a compassionate heart is needed. So, I started practicing in 1983 and opened my own law firm in 2008. and focus on my attention on being empathetic to every client I work with.

I love the law but I love people far more. My passion is to use my legal expertise to help hurting people out of very difficult situations. If you are feeling overwhelmed by a financial crisis, I want to be of assistance. I want to listen and understand.

I believe in second chances. Most of the time, when people find themselves in my office, it is largely due to circumstances beyond their control. If I can help you get a fresh start and teach you how to live within your means, that will be my greatest reward.

Bankruptcy law is complex and folks in the midst of financial difficulties feel overwhelmed. In my office, you will never feel a hint of condemnation or judgment. You are a person with feelings, not a case file or a number. Although there are no quick fixes, I will provide you with compassionate, realistic advice, and legal representation that is thorough, knowledgeable, fair, and aggressively help you defend your rights. I hope you will allow me the privilege of assisting you in this difficult time.
