Firm Overview

Matthew Sheasby and I were associate attorneys together at a family law firm in West Los Angeles that specialized in high-asset divorce cases. On March 1, 2004, we opened the Law Offices of Sheasby & Middleton with a commitment to communicate and support clients through tough family law matters. The Law Offices of Sheasby & Middleton focuses on family law and has represented clients in complex custody litigation, paternity, child support, prenuptial agreements, and complex high-asset divorces.

Example cases

I handled a highly litigated custody trial involving two small children and a host of experts and witnesses. In addition, I successfully mediated and resolved a multi-million dollar property dispute involving real estate in and out of California and a community property business.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

The effects of law on a family are always evolving, given politics, science, and social standards. I find assisting families through a divorce to be a challenging and rewarding experience.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Only through understanding the nature and extent of California law, the unique facts of their case and its possible outcomes, can a client make an informed and intelligent decision on their own.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

When appropriate to the case, a client representing themselves is the best method to resolving a case.

Ronda Middleton

Prior to being an attorney, I worked in higher education for 12 years.

Trial experience and continually keeping abreast of current statutory and case law give me the tools necessary to represent my clients to the best of my ability.

My verbal skills and courtroom ability allow me to resolve cases that must be litigated.

I believe in initially attempting to settle a case amicably, but if that is not possible, I am an aggressive litigator who is not intimidated by taking a case to trial.

Personal interests:

Reading, kickboxing, and of course, my family.
