Rocky Mountain Disability Law Group

Rocky Mountain Disability Law Group

Attorney Joe Whitcomb founded Rocky Mountain Disability Law Group in 2012 after working for Social Security in order to provide legal representation to claimants applying for disability benefits through the Social Security (SSDI/SSI) and the VA.

Firm Overview

RMDLG is a full service disability law firm. We are one a small number of law firms that take claimant's through the federal appeals process up to and including the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Our firm focuses on developing the medical evidence necessary to win your claim as well as the legal arguments that Judges need and want to hear. More than that, if you lose your claim, we will persist until we have won or exhausted all of your legal options.

If you are a Veteran of military service, then you can count on our firm to help you apply for and pursue your VA benefits. Joe Whitcomb is admitted to practice before the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the CAVC, and is a skilled brief writer. Social Security Disability
We are one of the few firms in Colorado practicing primarily in the area of Social Security federal appeals. If your application is denied, consider using a firm that will stay with you until you've exhausted all your appeals.
In 2011, Joe Whitcomb left a very comfortable existence working for the Social Security Administration to work in private practice, because he believed the disability applicants deserved good legal representation even if they were not able to pay upfront legal costs. As an attorney for Social Security, Joe wrote nearly 700 decisions for more than 16 different ALJs, which prepared him to fight for your rights at the hearing office.

Joe started his own disability law firm in 2012, because he wanted to be able to take his client's cases to federal court and because he wanted to represent his fellow veterans in their claim for VA benefits.

Since 2012, Rocky Mountain Disability Law Group has represented more than 100 disability applicants before the US District Court in Colorado and hundreds more at the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) in Denver and Colorado Springs. If you are looking for a law firm that really specializes in this area of law, RMDLG is the right firm for you. Call us today!

Joseph Whitcomb

Joe is a former U.S. Army Ranger and served as a non-commissioned officer in both the U.S. Army and the Air Force. During those careers, he garnered traits that will prove invaluable to the AG's office: motivation, initiative, and attention to detail.

Joe Whitcomb's legal experience includes being an active member of the Colorado Bar since May 2008, and starting his own law firm in April 2012. Joe founded the firm with a focus on administrative law, primarily in Social Security disability and Veterans Benefits law. The firm has focused its efforts on the judicial review process and has more than 65 cases pending at the US District Court and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before entering private practice, Joe worked for the Social Security Administration, researching and writing more than 675 decisions for 16 different Administrative Law Judges. He also served as a mentor to several new attorneys and gained expert knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology and the investigative studies performed in the diagnostic process. Additionally, all of the decisions he wrote were subject to review by the Agency's Appeals Council, district court judges, and the district Courts of Appeals.

Joe's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a master's degree in International Relations, both of which I earned while serving in the military. I started law school at the University of Denver in 2005, where I received an award for academic excellence in Constitutional law.
