Firm Overview

I was in a general practice from 1993-2000. In 2000, I opened my own practice and specialized in real property and family law, while continuing to do bankruptcy work. I took my family on a trip around the word from June of 2007 to June of 2008. Since returning, I have focused exclusively on personal bankruptcy filings, and foreclosure defense and mortgage modifications in the Jacksonville, Florida area.

We help people get a fresh start on life through bankruptcy relief, and foreclosure defense/mortgage modifications in the Jacksonville, Florida area.

We are keenly aware that good people get into circumstances and situations that they never thought possible. We know that your past does not determine your future and that anyone can make mistakes and wind up in a position that they did not expect. It is our hope that people who come to our office and utilize our services can get a fresh start on life.

Example cases

Helping anyone in a personal bankruptcy case is rewarding because they are generally so grateful to have some relief from the stress of creditors and debt.

I defended a client in foreclosure for almost three years. Very recently the lender offered my client a mortgage modification with a principle reduction.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I choose bankruptcy, mortgage and foreclosure defense because these areas create a lot of stress in people's lives. Handled correctly these stresses can be mitigated and I can help people get a fresh start on life.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it's essential. The more informed clients are the better they are able to make quality decisions. An experienced attorney can help an informed client navigate the system and get through the divorce or bankruptcy in minimal time and with minimal stress.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

It can be a good starting point since the client knows his or her situation better than anyone.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I think you need to either represent yourself or hire a lawyer. If you get caught in between you are in no man's land.

Robert L. Peters

I was with a general practice firm from 1993-2000. I learned how to do deal with almost any type of client, situation and problem. As a general practitioner you learn a little bit about a lot of things. It's a great way to start in law so you have a broad understanding of all facets of the law and it helps you decide where you want to concentrate.

My 15 years of experience have helped me to understand that divorce does not have to be a battle. It is normally much more productive to be pleasant to the other party, listen to the needs of my client and reach a solution that everyone can live with. The children are the main beneficiaries of that approach. Also, my background as a CPA helps me understand the financial part of bankruptcy and mortgage finance.

My strength is personal attention and attention to detail.

Personal interests:

Watching my three children grow and develop. I also enjoy running, biking, adventures races, basketball and flag football-anything active.
