Firm Overview

I have been a lawyer for 28 years. I have always helped people protect their rights in criminal and traffic cases.

Our lawyers focus on eliminating debt for our clients, but also help them keep as many of their assets as possible. Most people keep their house, car and personal property while eliminating credit card debt, medical bills, and other unsecured debt. We can save houses from foreclosure and cars from repossession, as well as stopping garnishments.

Example cases

A typical case would involve a homeowner behind on mortgage payments who wants to save a house from foreclosure. In a Chapter 13, we enable the client to make regular payments again, plus a small monthly payment to catch up the arrearage on the mortgage, thus saving the real estate. This also discharges all unsecured debt such as that of credit cards and medical bills.

There are often large debts after a divorce or failed business. Through Chapter 7 or 13, we can discharge the debts and give the client a fresh start without the large debt, while keeping assets.

We often help people with rental real estate or a business that needs reorganization to survive. This is usually a Chapter 11 case. Not many lawyers do Chapter 11 for individuals due to its new and difficult nature, but it is a handy tool for this purpose.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Each case presents many variables and options to protect a client's rights.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We want our clients to understand their rights and their options. However, there are numerous issues in criminal cases that a trained lawyer will identify and use to the advantage of the client. Self-education is a little complex in the bankruptcy area since there are various options which have different requirements and outcomes. We try to present all options, pro and con, so clients can decide the best course.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

There are some restrictions on this, but I can give general advice.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We can consult regarding clients' legal options and strategies.

Rick Redman

I have been a lawyer since 1980 with private practice law firms. I have practiced criminal and divorce law, as well as real estate and many other types of law.

I was trained as a teacher and have three children, so I am good at listening and explaining in a way that is understood by the client.

I am not a stuffy lawyer type. Our clients have not often used lawyers and are very nervous. I can put them at ease by answering questions and giving solutions to their problems.

Personal interests:

I am a sports enthusiast. I run (five marathons), play basketball and golf, as well as soccer. I have three children and a wife who enjoy traveling.
