Firm Overview

If you or a loved one has been arrested and charged with a crime, this is a defining moment in your life. Do not leave your future, or the future of a loved one, to chance. Leave it in our hands.

If you are convicted of a crime, that conviction will become part of your permanent record, accessible by law enforcement and government agencies, as well as by civilian employers. A conviction may subject you to supervision by probation, fines and even imprisonment. For these reasons all criminal matters, from major felonies to misdemeanor traffic violations, must be treated as if your life, or at least your future, depended upon the outcome, because it often does.

If you are falsely accused of a crime Raiser & Kenniff will fight for you, protect you from your accuser and fight the system tooth and nail toward a complete dismissal of the false and defamatory allegations. Other times a favorable disposition may be appropriate through the plea bargaining process. This can be achieved by negotiating hand in hand with the courts and prosecutors. Other times, however, favorable dispositions are not possible because of hard-line prosecutors favoring strict plea bargaining policies over sound case analysis and fundamental fairness. At Raiser & Kenniff, we make it our business to identify these differences at the very beginning of every case.

When no favorable disposition is likely, we will utilize all the tools at our disposal, under the Constitutions of the United States and the State of New York, to push a tired and at times overwhelmed system to work in your favor. Getting to this point is not easy. It takes tenacity, good judgment and hard work. At Raiser & Kenniff, we have the motivation, experience and reputation to meet this challenge, every time.

At Raiser & Kenniff you get more than outstanding defense attorneys; you get an advocate and a friend that will stand with you at a crucial time in your life. Those who want to protect their future, their livelihood and their freedom, call Raiser & Kenniff first.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

We focus on Criminal Defense matters because both Steve Raiser and Tom Kenniff have focused their careers on this area of law. James Ingoglia

Jim Ingoglia is a Counsel to Raiser & Kenniff, P.C. His practice areas include commercial litigation, employment litigation, trust & estate litigation, and criminal defense. He is a Long Island native who is a graduate of Chaminade High School, the College of the Holy Cross, and Hofstra University School of Law (With Distinction). In addition to helping lead the firm's Civil Litigation team at Raiser & Kenniff, Jim assists the criminal defense team, particularly with federal criminal defense work. Jim clerked for United States Magistrate Judge David L. Martin in Providence, RI, who was a well-known trial and appellate defense lawyer in New England.

At White & Case LLC, Jim worked extensively with the firm's White Collar Defense group on several international financial fraud investigations. He also devoted significant time to indigent clients through the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel. As part of his CJA work in federal court, Jim helped represent a successful cooperating witness in a large-scale crystal meth ring investigation.

Jim was also second seat at trial, and co-defense counsel through verdict and sentencing, in the case of a Colombian national extradited to the United States for money laundering and conspiracy charges in the SDNY. That trial work involved the "Operation Wirecutter" investigation by the federal government, which resulted in the first ever extraditions from Colombia based solely on charges of laundering narcotics proceeds. The lead prosecutor on the case later became the Special United States Treasury Department Inspector General overseeing the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

As a former associate at Garfunkel Wild & Travis, P.C. and a Counsel at Smith Valliere PLLC, Jim assisted with the firms' representation of medical practices and other medical professionals both in civil litigations and investigations by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC), other regulatory agencies, and insurance task force teams.

In addition to litigating, Jim also teaches Contracts, Civil Litigation, and Insurance Law at Hofstra University to paralegal students and insurance professionals. He also sits on the Board of a Brooklyn non-profit ballet school for Russian dance. Jim lives in a Long Island beach community with his wife, a clinical psychologist who works with veterans, and his two young sons. He enjoys bodysurfing, running, and more recently, judo lessons with his older son.
