A Fresh Start Is Possible
Chapter 7 bankruptcy allows people to get a fresh financial start. Unsecured debts such as credit cards and medical bills are discharged. You can also discharge secured debts, but you may be required to return the collateral to the creditor.

Bankruptcy will halt foreclosure and repossession as well as all other collection activities while the bankruptcy is in progress. It will also prevent creditors from garnishing your wages and harassing you.

If bankruptcy is not the right solution for you, we will recommend other options. When appropriate, we provide in-house debt consolidation. Beware of for-profit debt consolidation companies, they may simply take your money and not provide a valuable service. After months of payments most are forced to seek bankruptcy relief because they still have significant debt.

Owasso Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Lawyer with over 25 years experience.
No one wants to file bankruptcy, but sometimes it is the best way to eliminate debt and get your finances back on track. Bankruptcy is a safe, legal means of debt relief. The federal government designed Chapter 7 bankruptcy to give people a fresh start. It is a fairly simple process, typically taking about four to six months from start to finish.

At the law office of Perry W. Newman, we represent individuals and couples in Chapter 7 filings. We can also file Chapter 7 bankruptcy for sole proprietors of small businesses. Our attorney and staff will answer your questions and help you stop creditor harassment. We also help clients rebuild their credit after bankruptcy.

The Benefits Of Chapter 7
We help people with the pre-qualification process. In general, if your income is below the median income in Oklahoma for a household of your size, you may qualify for Chapter 7. If your income is greater than the median, you may not be eligible for Chapter 7, but Chapter 13 may be an option. There can be exceptions to eligibility, however, and we will discuss them with you.

Under Chapter 7 bankruptcy, credit cards and medical bills and other unsecured debts will be discharged. Taxes that meet certain criteria may be discharged. We will also determine whether it makes sense to discharge any of your secured debts such as car loans. Bankruptcy will not discharge student loans, however.

Many people are worried that they will lose all of their assets if they file. However, this is a misconception. Your primary home is exempt for the total value of your equity if you have been an Oklahoma resident for at least two years. Plus, bankruptcy can stop foreclosure and repossession.
