I am the founder of Alvarez de Bennett Law, P.C. I was born in Mexico City, D.F., to my U.S. citizen mother and my Mexican citizen father. At a young age, my family came to the United States where I grew up in Gallup, New Mexico and Tulsa, Oklahoma. My father later became a U.S. citizen.

Due to my background, I enjoy working with individuals who want to come to the United States and follow similar steps as my father did to obtain immigration benefits such as legal permanent residency, adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, H2B visas, Religious Worker Visas, extension of visitor visas, and citizenship. Her clients represent an array of cultures, religious backgrounds, and countries. She also works with individuals who need assistance with: Adoption (International and Domestic); Family Law & Divorce; Guardianships; Probate & Estate Planning; and Contracts. Example cases

I helped a woman from the Philippines who was married to a U.S. citizen that took advantage of her. She did not have anywhere to go or anyone to help her. She also had no money. After she explained her story to me, I set her up on a special plan for representation. Shortly afterwards, the I-360 (VAWA petition) was approved and my client received her work permit.

I helped one of my clients who was in removal proceedings obtain permanent residency in immigration court after showing the extreme hardship that would be caused to my client's U.S. citizen family. I also coordina

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I was born in Mexico to my U.S. citizen mother and my Mexican citizen father. I enjoy dual citizenship between the U.S. and Mexico. I like learning about other cultures and my immigration practice provides me with that opportunity. I also enjoy family law—especially adoption law because it is about providing a loving home to a child in transition.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think it is very important that clients look educate themselves on legal issues before visiting with an attorney. This helps the attorney answer all questions the client has prior to a consultation and to pinpoint the issues that are important. It also makes it easier for the attorney to explain the process to the client.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review documents prepared by clients because it helps clients feel part of the legal process and shows interest in the client's case.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Dependent on the kind of case, I will provide advice to clients who want to represent themselves in small claims court and waiver divorce cases.

Paola Marie Alvarez de Bennett

I have worked for the Cleveland County District Attorney Office, Corporation for Enterprise Development, and a private Oklahoma City Law Firm prior to starting my own business. Due to my range of legal experience, I have built relationships with prominent attorneys and associations in Oklahoma, and across the United States. I feel fortunate to have a team of attorneys and legal staff that value my clients like I do. I remain dedicated to my client's needs and am accessible by phone or email. I also remain active in the community by volunteering my time in both a professional and personal capacity.

My volunteer experience at a homeless shelter inspired me to become a lawyer when I was entering my last year of college. I saw many people who were simply in transition due to unexpected life circumstances but needed legal advice. I have also met many inspirational people like judges and leading lawyers who have shaped laws and policies that affect the community.

My strengths and style are that I am compassionate and provide personal service to clients.

Personal interests:

I enjoy reading, travel, hiking, indigenous cultures, and golf.
