Anthony Nuzzo, Jr.

Managing Partner

Attorney Anthony Nuzzo, Jr. is the Managing Partner of Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. Attorney Nuzzo is a recognized leader in the Connecticut legal community. His practice is focused in the areas of professional liability, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith and insurance defense. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and listed in CT Super Lawyers.

Throughout his career, Attorney Nuzzo has been active in a number of professional organizations, including the New Haven County Bar Association, where he served as president from 1998 to 1999; the Connecticut Bar Association; the American Bar Association; the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association, where he served as director in 1988 and president in 1994; the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Prior to establishing his practice in Connecticut, Attorney Nuzzo served as a public defender in the District of Columbia from 1968 to 1970. He is admitted to practice in the state of Connecticut and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. A lifelong Husky fan, Mr. Nuzzo received his J.D. in 1968 and his B.A. in Economics in 1965 from the University of Connecticut.

Attorney Nuzzo lectures and writes periodically on the subjects of professional malpractice and insurance defense. He is the author of "Avoid Legal Malpractice Claims by Doing the Obvious."

Attorney Nuzzo is a former president of Cheshire Occupational and Career Opportunities, Inc. (COCO) and a former member of the Cheshire Board of Education.

Richard A. Roberts

Senior Partner

Attorney Roberts is a senior partner with Nuzzo & Roberts. His practice is focused in insurance defense, professional liability, contractor liability and product liability. He has tried numerous cases and argued over 15 appeals. He is A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been listed in Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers for the past six years.

Attorney Roberts is currently president of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. He is also past-president of the New Haven County Bar Association, has been on its Executive Committee since 2001, and has chaired its Membership and Public Service Committees. He sits on the Civil Justice Commission with all presiding judges of Connecticut's State Courts. He is on the Executive Board of the New Haven Bar Community Foundation and is a fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He was ABA Young Lawyers Division District Representative and President of the New Haven Young Lawyers. He was awarded Outstanding Big Brother of the Year for enacting a project encouraging attorney volunteers in the Big Brother/Big Sister program.

Attorney Roberts received his J.D. in 1983 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, and his B.A. in 1979 from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Attorney Roberts was admitted in Connecticut in 1984, the District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1985, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 2006, and the Supreme Court of the United States in 2008.

Attorney Roberts was a Lecturer in Legal Studies at Quinnipiac College, and speaks frequently on topics including "Advanced Personal Injury," "Personal Injury Settlements," "Premises Liability: The Defense Perspective," "Most Common Mistakes Made Handling Claims," "Nuts and Bolts of Tort Law," "Third Party Practice" and "Preparing and Trying the Automobile Accident Case." Mr. Roberts presides over private arbitrations and mediations and is a court-appointed arbitrator.

David J. Weil

Partner

Attorney David Weil joined the firm in 1989 and is now a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1982 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Government, and with a J.D. from George Washington University in 1988, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. In 1988 he was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar, New Jersey State Bar and New Jersey District Court. Attorney Weil heads the Workers' Compensation Department and his focus is with insurance companies and third party administrators in the representation of employers in workers' compensation claims. He has represented these parties at informal hearings, preformal hearings and formal hearings. He has also successfully appealed cases to the Connecticut Compensation Review Board and Connecticut Appellate Court, including Masko v. Wallingford, 67 Conn. App. 276 (2001) and Donlin v. Cytec Industries, 77 Conn. App. 903 (2003).

Jane S. Bietz

Partner

Attorney Jane Bietz joined the firm in 1994 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She graduated from Bowdoin College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and earned her J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1994. While in law school, Ms. Bietz served as Notes and Comments Editor for the Connecticut Law Review and was selected as a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board. She was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 1994 and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 1995.

Attorney Bietz practices in the firm's insurance coverage and bad faith group, advising insurance companies in a broad range of insurance matters involving personal, commercial and professional policies. Attorney Rob Chomiak joined the firm in 1999 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. He graduated cum laude from Boston University in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy, and with a J.D. from New England School of Law in 1996. He was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 1996 and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 2000.

Attorney Chomiak practices in insurance defense with a focus on complex torts, motor vehicle and trucking law, product liability, fire loss, and indemnity and premises liability. His clients include major insurance companies, manufacturers, contractors, corporations, and municipalities.

Attorney Chomiak is very active in several professional organizations, including the New Haven County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. Nicole C. Chomiak

Partner

Attorney Nicole Chomiak joined the firm in 1998 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She received her B.S. in Marketing from Providence College in 1994, and graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1997. While at Quinnipiac, Attorney Chomiak served as the marketing editor for the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal and received the school's Academic Excellence Award.

Attorney Chomiak was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar and Massachusetts State Bar in 1997. She was admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 1998, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 2008. Attorney Chomiak focuses on the areas of insurance defense, employment litigation, civil rights and municipal liability. She also defends cases filed with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Attorney Chomiak has tried several cases in the Connecticut Courts and has argued appeals with the Connecticut Appellate Court. Additionally, Ms. Chomiak was instrumental in the writing of the appellate brief on Ricci v. DeStefano, which was appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Attorney Chomiak is a member of the Hellenic Bar Association and New Haven County Bar Association. She lives in Bethany, with her husband, Robert, and their two daughters.

Michele C. Camerota

Attorney Michele Camerota joined the firm in 1999 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, and then earned her J.D. from University of Connecticut School of Law in 1998. While at CCSU Attorney Camerota was inducted into the Phi Sigma Alpha honor society for political science majors. Attorney Camerota earned an Associate of Science Degree from Manchester Community College in 1990 in Legal Assistant.

Attorney Camerota was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 1998 and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 1999. She practices in the areas insurance coverage litigation, insurance bad faith litigation, professional liability insurance agent/broker errors and omissions. She is experienced in legal malpractice and insurance defense litigation. Her clients include numerous insurance companies, insurance agents and insurance brokers. She enjoys a high success rate in prevailing on declaratory judgment actions brought by insurance companies to determine the duty to defend and indemnify. Amber J. Hines

Partner

Attorney Amber Hines joined the firm in 2000 and is now a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She received her J.D., cum laude, in 1999 from Quinnipiac University School of Law and her B.A., summa cum laude, from The College of New Rochelle. While in law school, Ms. Hines was an associate editor of the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal and author of a published article. She was also the recipient of an Academic Achievement Award for her overall academic performance. In addition, she received Distinguished Academic Achievement Awards in several courses.

Attorney Hines was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 1999 and was admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 2004. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. Attorney Hines also served as a research clerk to Judges of the Connecticut Superior Court. She practices in insurance coverage, bad faith, professional liability and appellate litigation. She specializes in policy analysis for a wide array of personal, commercial and professional lines. She represents insurers in coverage disputes in Connecticut superior, appellate and federal courts. Attorney Hines also defends insurers against common law bad faith and statutory unfair trade practices claims. She advises and assists insurers with claims handling procedures, liability and damages evaluations and settlement opportunities in order to globally resolve complex coverage and extra-contractual claims. She presents educational and training seminars regarding insurance coverage issues and good faith claims practices.

Attorney Hines also works for the firm's professional liability group defending attorney malpractice claims in which she concentrates in vexatious litigation. Representative cases include Lexington Ins. Co. v. Lexington Healthcare Group, Inc., 2010 WL 745030 (Jan. 26, 2010); and Palazzo v. Delrose, 91 Conn. App. 222(2005).

He also received his J.D., cum laude, in 2001 from Western New England College School of Law where he served on the Honors Committee. Attorney Jim Fiore joined the firm in 2002 and is a Partner with Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. Attorney Stacey Pitcher is a Senior Attorney with Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She graduated cum laude from Fairfield University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, with minors in Legal Studies and Communications. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Pitcher served as the symposium editor for the Public Interest Law Journal and received the Cornelius W. Wickersham, Jr. Award in Constitutional Law, the CALI Excellence Awards in multiple courses and the Women Law Students' Association Award for volunteer work involving women's issues.

Attorney Pitcher was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 2004, and U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 2006. She was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 2010. She focuses on the areas of insurance defense, employment litigation, civil rights and municipal liability. She also defends cases filed with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and has defended numerous appeals.

Kelly B. Gaertner

Attorney Kelly Gaertner is a Senior Attorney at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She obtained her B.A. from Rutgers University in 2000 in Political Science and Spanish, and she graduated cum laude from the Seton Hall School of Law in 2006. While in law school, Attorney Gaertner was a member of the Women's Law Forum and the International Law Society. She also participated in the Gressman Moot Court Competition and worked for the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic at Seton Hall's Center for Social Justice.

Attorney Gaertner served as a Legal Research Law Clerk for the Judges of the Connecticut Superior Court from August 2006 to August 2007 prior to joining Nuzzo & Roberts. James P. Henke

While in law school, Attorney Henke completed internships with the Office of Legal Counsel to the Governor of the State of Connecticut, the United States Postal Service Northeast Law Department, the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, the Connecticut Chief State's Attorney's Office: Asset Forfeiture Bureau, the City of Hartford Corporation Counsel's Office, the Honorable Linda Pearce Prestley, and the Connecticut Attorney General's Environment Department. Before joining the firm, Attorney Henke performed a one year judicial clerkship as a research clerk for the judges of the Connecticut Superior Court.

Attorney Henke was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar in 2007 and the New York State Bar in 2008. His practice is focused on defending employers and insurers in Informal, Pre-Formal, and Formal Hearings before the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission throughout the state.
