Work Summary:

From 1995 to 2005, I was the General Counsel of the Oakland Athletics and its Community Fund. I am adept at handling matters that involve complex real estate, business, estate planning, sports, entertainment, employment, food/liquor concessions, ABC/BTF regulatory, employment and outside sales person, licensing, sponsorship, marketing, charitable compliance, pledge, concession, professional player and entertainment matters.

From 1987 to 2001, I was the General Counsel of the Hofmann Development Company, Discovery Mortgage, Discovery Bay, Sandpipers Ltd, Rancho Esquon and for the Hofmann Foundation (also serving as its Executive Administrator). I also served as Kenneth Hofmann's personal counsel.
I am experienced in handling complex business transaction, construction claim, commercial leasing, insurance, homeowners association, agriculture, real estate/development/use permit, corporate/LLC/partnership/ non-profit formation/compliance, buy-sell, employment agreement, private/commercial lending and related business matters.

The aforementioned experience provided me with a wealth of experience in processing and opposing real estate developments and use permits in several Napa, Solano and Contra Costa County cities and in dealing with the California Department of Real Estate.

During my tenure at the Hofmann Development Company, I was appointed as the president of the Travertine Corporation. The Travertine Corporation developed a large private residential and golf course on over 1,000 acres in Indian wells, California.

I served as the key negotiator in the purchase the Adams Ranch, Durham. CA (which I later returned to its historic name of Rancho Esquon) - a 6,700+/- acre rice and wheat ranch with a 1M CWT Dryer and Storage Facility. This purchase required the negotiation/resolution of complicated title, access easement, mineral rights, water rights, well rehabilitation, PG&E service contract, water pumping, well drilling and rehabilitation oversight, rice/wheat farming/production/storage, marketing and conservation easement matters.

I served as the ranch's CEO and president. I personally farmed over 360 acres of rice, 200 acres of winter wheat and 35 acres of Almonds.

I negotiated and implemented an extensive series of conservation easements, water rights agreements, mineral rights purchase agreements and hazardous substance remediation agreements that protected and benefited water fowl and wildlife habitat for a portion of this property and a 1000+ acre property, known as Pipers Patch. I have real estate development and permitting experience with the City of Napa, City of St. Helena, Town of Yountville, Calistoga, Sonoma, Fairfield, Suisun, Vacaville and Napa County.

I have experience in complex and simple probate and estate planning and litigation matters.
I am also a developer of residential and commercial projects. I have developed (a) a 47 unit mixed use residential affordable and market rate housing development in St Helena, CA, known as Magnolia Oaks; and (b) other large and small residential and commercial development projects including commercial condominiums. I am one of three member of Lonewood Investment Group which developed the seven lot SFR subdivision known as Lone Wood Court in Napa CA; it also built and still owns/rents 5 Lone Wood Court.

Personal Interests:
Family (1st) and Faith (hand in hand).
I am a Sixth Generation Napan who is passionate about my community and its history.

Hiking/Bike Riding/Gardening/Wood Working/Horse Riding/Mechanical projects of all kinds.
Amateur Drag Racing.

Athletics: Football, Wrestling & Track & Field at Napa High School (1975-1976).

Tennis, Wrestling, Rugby Football, Track & Field at Napa J. C. (1977).

Football & Rugby (Center & Break), while at St. Mary's College (1977-1980)
Rugby (Center & Break) while at Hastings (1981-1984).

Rugby (Center & Break) for the BATS (1986-1994). During the 1987 World Cup Tour, we followed the Eagles as a feeder/exhibition team; played in Christ Church & Auckland, NZ then Sydney and Brisbane, Aus. Explored the Daintree Rain Forest for a month+. Once past the Daintree River Ferry, I learned while fording small tidal creeks/rivers and seeking waterfalls/swimming spots that although people may eat Barramundi, Crocodiles eat both.
