What distinguishes your law firm from others?
Unlike most other big "brand name" law firms, we NEVER marginalize our clients. Many times, big firms, "process" or "mill" their clients... shuffling clients between salesmen and legal assistants... treating each client as just another number, not a person. Here at the New Chapter Law Group, we KNOW our clients are people! People struggling to keep up with overwhelming debts... people faced with the difficult decisions before them! We've dedicated ourselves to never losing sight of our clients as people, and we do our best to give each and every client as much time and attention as they need and deserve!
Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
If you are currently in an active bankruptcy which was either filed by you (pro-per) or with another attorney, we have substituted into existing cases so that you can conclude your case with us as your attorneys. Call or email us today for your Free Attorney Consultation to discuss your case or concerns.
Nik, a native San Diegan, was born and raised in North County. Having grown up in Encinitas and Carlsbad, and still a Carlsbad resident, Nik has personally witnessed the evolution of North County over the last 30 years. With family roots firmly planted in the North County, Nik commuted to La Jolla to attend the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
After graduating from UCSD, Nik spent several years working for small start-up companies in fields such as biotech and information technology. Nik went on to attend the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in Old Town San Diego where he excelled in legal writing and research classes, eventually earning top grade awards in each class.
Driven by his desire to help clients in one-on-one client interactions, before and after graduating from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Nik worked for a Carlsbad boutique family law firm which utilized the then new
"Collaborative Approach" to traditional dissolution. After years helping clients with dissolutions, Nik began helping clients file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. Nik has spent nearly three year working exclusively in the field of consumer bankruptcy, and has filed over 500 Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases. In addition, Nik has argued on behalf of his clients before the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Ninth Circuit. Nik is currently admitted to practice law in the State of California, as well as the United States District Court of the Southern and Central Districts of California.

Kristin, a native San Diegan, was born and raised in Mira Mesa. Kristin first left San Diego to attend the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. From an early age, Kristin knew she wanted to be an attorney so she could help protect the rights of those typically overlooked and under protected by society. Kristin was accepted to study law at Brooklyn Law School in New York, so Kristin and 3 friends packed their belongings in a moving truck and headed east. Before starting law school, Kristin spent two years in New York working in the field of bankruptcy, specializing in chapter 11 corporate reorganization matters. Given her interest in bankruptcy, Kristin continued her work in corporate bankruptcy throughout law school.
After graduating, Kristin was offered a job with a prestigious Park Avenue bankruptcy law firm. While Kristin enjoyed the field of corporate bankruptcy, Kristin began to feel disconnected from those who she originally wanted to help, the regular person/family (ie. the consumer). Kristin switched coasts to switch sides, and returned home to San Diego in 2008 and began helping individuals and families seeking the fresh start and relief from their debts. Since returning to San Diego, Kristin has filed approximately 1000 consumer bankruptcy cases, including both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. Kristin's straight forward/no-nonsense demeanor and her tenacity and willingness to fight for the rights of her clients has not only made Kristin well known but also highly respected by both the local Bankruptcy Judges and Trustees. Kristin is currently admitted to practice law in both California and New York. Kristin is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in California's Southern and Central Districts, New York's Southern and Eastern Districts, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
